Power cords and cables are very important for the electrical stability in a home or any business. TCA, or Technical Cable Applications, will be expanding itspower cord availability. They have a stock order of almost 50,000 cords and it will feature 20 different variations with 5-10 different lengths per connector type instead of the current 4 different types. TCA’s main focus was computer and network cabling, with cat5e and cat6 network cables. However they have expanded to include computer peripherals.
Martha has been showing signs of pneumonia for the past week. Her pediatrician is still ruling out asthma so she is on meds until tomorrow when she goes back in for her check up. We would be having her X-Ray too to rule out everything. I really hope it is just the flu or an asthma attack because if its pneumonia, she would have to be confined :(.
Also, since this is her third asthma attack in a month, her pedia has advised us to start considering giving her maintenance medicines. Im still in denial though. I will wait it out when she goes to Amadeo for a week. If fresh air wont change her attacks, Ill bite the bullet and have her on meds. I dont want to have asthma maintenance meds for her as I’ve read there are side effects on the heart.
It is important to note that:
The pathognomic sign of pneumonia is the presence of crackles (also called as crepitations). Localized crepts in a febrile child without underlying lung disease is pneumonia until proven otherwise. However, not all children with pneumonia have crepitations. Decreased breath sounds with dull note on percussion and presence of bronchial breathing are also suggestive of pneumonia.
Now for mommies, here are links I’ve read about pneumonia and tips to prevent them:
Medical: Pneumonia and its Causes
Baby Center: What is pneumonia and its signs?
Martha’s cousin who is just older by six months got confined last weekend because of pneumonia too. My sister in law told me there were a lot of babies younger that Martha and her cousin who were confined
It must be in the season.
Here are some tips:
From Baby Center:
To boost her chance of staying pneumonia-free in the future:
• Keep her vaccinations up to date. The Hib, DTaP, MMR, flu, chicken pox, and pneumococcal vaccines can all help prevent pneumonia. Ask the doctor for advice if your child has missed any scheduled vaccinations. (Some of these are scheduled to begin in your child’s first year. Others start at 12 months.)
• Practice good personal hygiene. Teach your toddler the art of hand-washing, and help her do it after using the bathroom, before meals, and any other time she may have come into contact with germs. And do the same yourself. Don’t let your toddler share cups or utensils with friends or family members. Regularly wash all the places germy body parts might touch, like the phone, toys, doorknobs, and the refrigerator handle.
• Make yours a smoke-free home. If you or your partner smokes, do it outside, and ask guests to do the same. Better yet, ask your doctor about finding a program to help you quit. Studies have shown that children who live around cigarette smoke, even for short periods, get sick more often and are more susceptible to pneumonia, upper respiratory infections, asthma, and ear infections.

This is alarming! They dont even know the impact of this to parents! Im so scared to even buy toys now - even toys made in the US. You will never be sure and confident on what is safe anymore. Im not a majoy toy buyer - we make do what the kids can creatively play with, but during Christmas, I splurge a lot for them. It makes me think if I can actually buy safe toys anymore!
TUESDAY, Aug. 21 (BabyCenter News) — Hampton Direct has announced a recall of about 27,000 toy train sets in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The paint on the trains contains excessive amounts of lead, posing a risk of lead exposure to young children.
This recall involves magnetic alphabet and number train sets. The sets include a wooden engine, caboose, letters, and numbers. They come in a rainbow of colors and have either a letter or number attached to the top of a base that has four wooden wheels. The alphabet train set contains 28 pieces, and the number train set contains 12 pieces. Each car is 2.5 x 2.5 x 2 inches in size.
The train sets were sold by Johnson Smith Company, by The Paragon Gifts Inc., and in Starcrest Products of California catalogs nationwide from December 2005 through July 2007 for about $30. They were made in China.

According to BabyCenter:
How your toddler’s growing: Your baby is growing up fast these days, walking, talking a little, and probably even using a spoon or fork when she eats. Every game she plays, whether it’s pointing to different body parts when you ask her to or putting objects into containers and taking them out again, teaches her about the world around her. One of the things she’s learning is that she’s an autonomous entity, not just an extension of you. How can you tell if your child has grasped this concept? Watch her in front of a mirror; if she recognizes herself and isn’t trying to reach out and touch the “other” baby, she gets it.
How your life is changing:
The way your child interacts with the world around her will tell you a lot about her temperament — how she’s likely to respond to different situations, people, places, and things. For example, some children are flexible and adapt easily to change, others need a more predictable schedule. You can modify your child’s environment to help her succeed. She’s depending on you to make her feel comfortable. By respecting her needs, you can help her develop to her fullest potential.
