When I came home last night, I found Martha was running a low grade temp (”sinat”). It turns out she had fever around 10PM and the nanny gave her Tempra to settle her. So today, I took her to our family pediatrician.
He checked her lungs - no wheezing, clear sounds, no rahls. So, his guess - viral infection. Since she is asthmatic, the flu is really a trigger, so I just need to be more vigilant in preventing things like these - that’s why I need to get her flu vaccine shots. I was chatting with Peachy since we share the same pulmonologist for our kids and her vaccine shots were unreasonable - P2k! Even is she is a specialist, I think I can get Martha to a cheaper priced doctor for a flu vaccine shot, most especially since we are on maintenance meds up until her flu disappears. Drats.
So, we are back to Virlix, Ventolin and a bronchodilator so she can sleep well at night. Her pedia recommended we go back to a pulmo specialist if after a week, Martha still has the flu.
*She lost three pounds from the past few days already. *Sigh*. Did I mention she is also teething molars? Poor kid.
Poor Martha! Our air is so dirty, so many kids are now suffering from asthma. The doctors thought I had asthma, too, so I took Ventolin for about 5 years. A year and a half ago, I took the asthma test and found out that my lungs are just sensitive to some elements and what I was feeling was just a bad allergy attack. Now, i’m just taking allergy medicines for my lungs.
