Im satisfied to know that my husband shares my opinion on getting inked - it isnt something we would do to ourselves. I dont find getting inked repulsive, I actually have nothing against it. I love looking at tattoo designs, and have been fascinated by it most especially after watching PrisonBreak! However, it is just not for me - it is something for life and I just see myself looking like an old hag with sagging, dry skin and a tattoo losing its ink - it doesnt sit really well with me.

Just a little trivia about nose jobs. It is knowns as rhinoplasty in medical terms. It actually literally means “nose forming” or “nose molding” - very apt dont you think? And that there is such a thing as nose reduction?

Most importantly, one should remember that a nose job can change self-appearance but it cannot change self-image.

It should all come from within.

I have two degrees under my name and a “professional”, being a licensed Medical Technologist and Nurse. But sad to say, Im just “all that” in paper. I have not been able to practice any of my career yet. There is a plan to all this though. Finally, we have decided to take the leap and have me quit work within the year. From there, I will take review classes and moonlight on hospitals, dialysis centers, health centers as a nurse, absorb as much as I can and then try process my nursing papers abroad. There a lot of opportunities waiting for me, be it working in a hospital or working in Long Island nursing homes.

Have you heard of the new cosmetic procedures that doesnt need one to go under the knife? There is one procedure that instead of undergoing liposuction, a solution is injected to your affected body part and then it melts away the fat involved and you just eliminate it the normal way. It seems that fight against aging is all the rage now - from having a healthier lifestyle to having Chicago cosmetic surgery, for example. Personally, I dont see myself ever having any part of my face altered but I am open to fat reduction :) I need help on many problem areas of my body on that one :)

I admit I am not a dog lover - this stems from a very traumatic experience when I got bitten by a dog when I was six years old. From then on, either I was deathly afraid of them or thoroughly hated them :). However, I still have opinions and I know how a dog should be taken cared of - my family loves dogs. One thing I’d like to see get implemented here in our country is for people to be able to have someone babysit their dogs when they need to be away for a long time or a dog kennel
facility to temporarily let the dog stay in when it’s going to be long vacations or out of town trips. Dogs are like human beings too - they need company, they need to be fed and taken cared of, and eventhough they ensure the safety of the house, they need someone to look over them too!

Chewy White Rabbit, 3 more China goods laced with formalin - BFAD

Chinese candy maker denies Philippine claims of formaldehyde tainting

These news were shocking, especially since I love eating White Rabbit ever since I was a kid. The first thing that I actually tried to remember was if Matthew was or could have eaten the candy, and it made breathe a sigh of relief to realize my son has never had any inclination to sweets, so he doesnt eat candy. Thank goodness!

509237209_58b4febfef_m.jpg The BFAD issues a statement that the candy, along with three others, contain formalin, which is used to embalm corpses. According to the news,
The other three products found to be tainted with formalin are a brand of milk candy made by Romanticfish Food Industry, Bairong Grape Biscuits made by Dongguan Bairong Food Stuff Company and distributed by Goodway Int’l. Trading Corp. and Yong Kang Foods Grape Biscuits made by Dongguan Yongkang Food Company, Ltd.”

However, the company from China which produces the said candy has already released a report that the candies dont contain formalin - citing that if it has, it might have come from the packaging. They also have lambasted how irreponsible the Philippine Press has done to release the news without further investigation.

Can you imagine the damage it has done? Clearly, Filipinos will be wary to eat the candy now, even if proven otherwise. I myself would not eat it, not anymore.

Formalin can cause cancer and leukemia.

When I came home last night, I found Martha was running a low grade temp (”sinat”). It turns out she had fever around 10PM and the nanny gave her Tempra to settle her. So today, I took her to our family pediatrician.

He checked her lungs - no wheezing, clear sounds, no rahls. So, his guess - viral infection. Since she is asthmatic, the flu is really a trigger, so I just need to be more vigilant in preventing things like these - that’s why I need to get her flu vaccine shots. I was chatting with Peachy since we share the same pulmonologist for our kids and her vaccine shots were unreasonable - P2k! Even is she is a specialist, I think I can get Martha to a cheaper priced doctor for a flu vaccine shot, most especially since we are on maintenance meds up until her flu disappears. Drats.

So, we are back to Virlix, Ventolin and a bronchodilator so she can sleep well at night. Her pedia recommended we go back to a pulmo specialist if after a week, Martha still has the flu.

*She lost three pounds from the past few days already. *Sigh*. Did I mention she is also teething molars? Poor kid.

My daughter, Martha, had an asthma attack, again, last Monday. It was her second asthma attack in three weeks, after we first discovered she has one. What I notice about Martha is she gets attacks during night times, and during changing of weather. It really is scary and frustrating since she get acute asthma attacks, so all we can do is nebulize her every hour until her wheezing normalizes, and if on the fourth hour, it has not stopped yet, give her steroids.

According to this site:

“Asthma (Az-muh) is a chronic disease that affects your airways. The airways are the tubes that carry air in and out of your lungs. If you have asthma, the inside walls of your airways are inflamed (swollen). The inflammation (IN-fla-MAY-shun) makes the airways very sensitive, and they tend to react strongly to things that you are allergic to or find irritating. When the airways react, they get narrower, and less air flows through to your lung tissue. This causes symptoms like wheezing (a whistling sound when you breathe), coughing, chest tightness, and trouble breathing, especially at night and in the early morning.

Asthma cannot be cured, but most people with asthma can control it so that they have few and infrequent symptoms and can live active lives.

When your asthma symptoms become worse than usual, it is called an asthma episode or attack. During an asthma attack, muscles around the airways tighten up, making the airways narrower so less air flows through. Inflammation increases, and the airways become more swollen and even narrower. Cells in the airways may also make more mucus than usual. This extra mucus also narrows the airways. These changes make it harder to breathe.”

I have not done my research yet, but I sincerely hope her case is like her older brother’s, which went away when he became active in sports - swimming, and ate more nutritious foods. Matthew’s attacks were not the same though, as he vomits everytime he has an attak. He got hospitalized too, when steroids were not able to stop his wheezing once. (It has not happened since then.)

Do any of you have kids with asthma? I really need more advice how to prevent an attack - as Im clueless how Martha gets hers. Also, is there any side effects on nebulization and steroids? I think having an asthmatic child will require more vigilance than I thought.

Here are her medicines:
Ventolin nebules.
Prednison (steroids - when she is still having wheezes)
Virlix
