BRINGING THE GOOD OLD-FASHION VALUES BACK TO THE FAMILY

Today, more than ever, we can see the deterioration of family values. We can see it all over the news, on television and on papers: children murdering their parents and family members; parents killing their children for many reasons; spouses divorcing each other; parents neglecting their children; children disrespecting their elders. Now, more than ever, is the time to return to good old-fashioned family values. But just what constitutes good old-fashioned family values?

We should remember that the family is where the child gets his first lessons in life, the virtues of love, kindness, and respect for elders, humility, gentleness and patience. The parents are the first teachers of our children and they should be good examples of all these virtues. We should bring back love and charity among each other in the family, especially, the love for God and His commandments. We should bring back prayers together as a family so that children will realize when they grow up the importance and value of prayerful life.

If only the family will work together in bringing back these values to each and every member, then we will become one big joyful family of God in this world.
