Breakouts

It’s finally Friday! What a week this has been. I had computer trouble since last Sunday and it took all week for us to fix it – it still has not been fixed, the husband just had a temporary solution to it, so I am not back to normal just yet. I am trying to take it in stride though, as I will be gone away for a weekend. All things are on hold until next week. Maybe next week things will be better.

A friend of mine has sent me an e-mail though asking for a referral on a dermatologist. She needs urgent treatment for her skin because her wedding is just a month away. My sister has been going to this awesome dermatologist because she had rashes break out all throughout her body without her knowing the cause. It turns out she has skin asthma so she has so many topical medicines on top of the medicines she need to take orally. I referred my friend to the same dermatologist.

My sister’s rashes are now controlled but she is problematic about the scars they left behind. She was recommended to use the acne scar treatment by ZenMed.

It promises that:

In one simple 5 minute application, you will notice:

  • Fading of Acne scars
  • Fine lines diminish, skin appears younger
  • Skin appears glowing and fresh
  • Fine bumps disappear and skin surface is more even and smooth

After 3-4 treatments:

  • Flaws such as Acne scars and hyperpigmentation gradually diminish
  • Collagen levels are increased causing skin to look and feel more plump and alive
  • Combination skin is balanced, dry rough patches are gone

After 8-10 treatments:

  • Appearance of wrinkles is minimized
  • Minor imperfections are diminished
  • Acne scars appear lighter and less visible

It has been three weeks since G, my laptop, got sick and needed to be sent to the repair center. She wasn’t turning on (no display) even if the lights were blinking. An initial diagnosis made by the technician was motherboard failure. We were already told it will take 3 to 4 weeks for it to be repaired and the cost, if the diagnosis is correct, will be anywhere from $200-$300. (Yes, I might as well get a new one, right?) I don’t want to give up on my laptop because of sentimental reasons. It is the first laptop I have bought with my money from writing and she was really with me (literally) when I was working so hard. But I do realize I need a desktop computer, given how long I work in front of a computer. There are great deals right now, I just wish we had a credit card to buy one. There are great deals on packages with 0% interest for 12 months. I can always apply online for best credit cards – but I really don’t want one anymore.

You need to find a credit card that works best for you. For example, if you do groceries a lot and charge it to your card, you can get one that has bonus points for shopping. Or if you use it for gas, you can sign up for a card that offers rebates or discounts on petroleum. If you have multiple cards and want to consolidate them into one, you can get a card that has a zero balance transfer rate so it will be easier to pay and monitor your expenses.

I’m going to think about this until the end of the month and make my decision. I need to have at least 30% of the total payment as well.

Parking Spaces

I have heard on the news that people are being resourceful in their ways to save on fuel resources. While most employees have decided to take public transportation and leave their cars in their homes, there are people who opted to organize car pools within their area so they can just pitch in on gas. There are those who would drive a certain distance, leave their car, and then take public transportation. It’s a way of saving but is dangerous for your car but people who live far away are left with no choice to do it.

I remember working in the business district of the country and during weekdays, parking lots which charge a very high amount per hour are filled with cards – people have no choice but to park their cars there are spaces are very few plus the traffic police are very strict and towing trucks are always on standby.

I wish there will be spaces for rent like those being rented out in London. London Parking Spaces are available online for checking, you can see the map, instructions how to get there and the nearest landmarks and available routes for public transportation. You can rent it out monthly, and have to agree with their terms and conditions. It offers the safety you can never get for your car parked in a public place!

Garages.

What I hated most about our place in Manila before was there was no place for Edil to park a car. We usually borrow cars from his brother and father when we go out to make it easier for us, and Edil had to bring it back when we go home and then commute when he returns because he can’t risk it being scratched, dented or vandalized. There should be a housing law requiring homes to have a garage if they have a vehicle.

Garages in London can be rented out monthly. There are even establishments solely for garages for rent. You can think of it as parking spaces with partition. Only you are assured of getting it everyday as long as you rent it out. Many people have been leaving their cars at home, or driving a certain distance from home, parking their car and then taking public transportation to save on gas.

Since we live in a world of technology, garages for rent can now be searched for online! There are garage spaces listed, their exact location, landmarks and the nearest public transportation route. You can even apply online!

I hope this will be implemented soon in our country. We will be needing more ways for people to save.
And yes, with us living in the suburbs with houses apart from each other at least a good distance, we have a garage (and a front and backyard!)

Me and my friend were talking about real estate properties one day. They were interested in getting a 7000 sq m lot adjacent to their farm but the land is owned by siblings of a family that the titles were split. One of them has even died so handling the real estate papers would be tricky. They need to file for inheritance tax, real estate consolidation and a whole bunch of other things I dont really understand anymore.

A friend has inherited a sizable property from her single aunt who recently died. She opted to get a probate cash advance for her inheritance. Im not really sure what it meant but you can consider it as cash advnce in replace of your inheritance. She claims it is not a loan – the company that gives you the probate cash advance just gives you the money in replace for your inheritance. Think of it as getting your inheritance money when the property is liquidated. She got a sizable amount considering the company gave her the worth of the property 15 years from now, which is actually promising!

So…

I had this in my drafts for the past two days (almost) that Ive not been blogging.

Damn You Helen….

…for making me depressed and miss my husband because Im cold and all I see is grey.

And for those who dont know WHAT the hell Im talking about, make sure you always read the news :)

The Mission's Vision

I am part of a non-profit Catholic organization which serves a mission to spread the new of God to everyone. We give out retreats and fellowships to help people change their lives and get closer to Him. Twenty years ago, the mission spread and we were able to launch the mission in the United States. The dream of building a center where people can go to officially became a reality in 1993. It was chosen that California will be the state where we will be building a center. We found out that California construction laws were strict and very detailed so we had to be very careful with everything from the permits to the contractors to the on-site building. Thankfully, everything went smoothly without a hitch and we now have built a center for people to go to and convene. We have retreats there. And recently a multi-purpose center was built so people can celebrate events, sportsfests and programs there. We open it for rent so payments can be used for maintenance.

War Games

Edil wants to try playing paintball. Paintball is a war game that is safe because instead of real guns they use electric airsoft rifles. They are even in full battle gear. I have no apprehensions about it other than the fact that the place where he can play paintball is so far away from home – talk about south to north! It would be a good way for him to unwind with friends because of its physical activity though. It is better than them hanging out and drinking all the time. Let us see if we can find ways to fit in the schedule and budget. Gas is awfully high these days.
