With the ongoing worldwide oil crisis, the US has been investing and tapping into natural gas. The US has a massive potential for natural gas. In fact, the country has reserves that can help the country be secured for around 100 years! According to eagle ford shale news, the US is becoming a massive natural gas region and is at the forefront of the gas extraction industry. It has some of the biggest reserves of shale. Shale is a form of sedimentary rock that has a fine grain and has components like calcite, clay and quartz. It breaks up into thin sheets and has very poor permeability. It is a resource for natural gas.
How is natural gas “harvested”?
Hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking”, uses water, sand, and chemicals at very high pressure to crack shale rock formations and enable the natural gas in the shale deposits to migrate to the well head for collections.
Natural gas has been conceived to be crude oil, or a waste product of oil products and have not been given much attention and was even burned to be disposed of in the 1800s. It was only in the later years that it was discovered that this gas is useful. This led to the ultimate storage of the natural gas in the form of cylinders and wherever possible it was sent through pipelines directly to the homes and many other industries for various types of applications.
With decreasing oil reserves all over the world and the potential crisis it might give, the US is looking at natural gas as a form of viable energy. Nowadays, more than 30% of the natural gas comes from Shale but in a few more decades, it is possible that this industry can produce more than 50% of the demand for natural gas.

We recently bought a new TV for the house, and it can support HDMI cables already. My husband wanted a television that can support HDMI cables and can have HDTV – I just wanted a new TV. He explained how buying a more “hi-tech” TV can benefit our family. We are a family that loves to watch movies at home. We download movies on the web and watch them on our TV set. It’s a problem when the movie file we downloaded cannot be read by our DVD player. With HDMI cables, we can connect our laptop to our TV, play the movie on the laptop, with the output seen on our TV. Isn’t that amazing? I also work on Photoshop often. And I need a bigger screen. Enter HDMI cables! I work on our large-screen TV when I need a bigger workspace (screen) to work with in Photoshop!
For a non-techie like me, this is huge and amazing news. A company like Optimized Cable Company offers cables that enhance user experience for all kinds of gadgets, like how a VGA cable made doing presentations on theaters using projector monitors easier. They are responsible for the transmission of video signals from personal computers or laptops to monitors or projectors. And how
cat-5 cables are essential for building networks in offices.
It is amazing how far our world has become with technology!

Teenage drug addiction is a growing concern for parents, especially since studies have shown that illegal drugs is now easier to get and substance abuse starts with teenagers as early as 12. Teens are more likely to get exposed to drugs and alcohol and are more vulnerable to try these harmful substances. Often, teens think that they will try drugs only for once, but many of them experiment with these drugs of abuse for longer periods and get addicted. Teenage drinking or illicit drug abuse causes morbidity and mortality, both during adolescence as well as later in their life. Because of what is happening, parents often resort to using drug testing kits to find out if their children is using illegal drugs.
Using an home drug test kit is one of the drug screening methods to know whether or not your child has been abusing drugs. Home drug testing kits help you to identify possible drug use, stop current use, prevent the drug use in future.
1. Easy to use
They are designed to be easily administered by a parent or guardian to test their kids for drug abuse at home. They also provide reliable results which can be read easily.
2. Confidential
Parents can safely and privately check for substance abuse problem in their children using these kits.
3. Quick, reliable and accurate results
4. Various drugs can be detected
Generally, standard kits detect almost all the commonly abused drugs including Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates, Oxycodone, Methamphetamines, Alcohol, Cotinine etc.,
5. Cost-effective

Here is a little bit of trivia for you: We don’t subscribe to newspapers at home. We also do not watch the news. It’s always cartoons for us 24 hours, almost seven days a week. I keep abreast with everything through the Internet, and I rarely read new sites not unless there is an international tragedy like earthquakes and tsunamis. I do, however, keep abreast with all things about celebrities and their latest everything – clothes, shoes, bags, latest splits, latest movies, latest hook-ups and what nots. You can say I live and breathe hollywood news. It is my way to relax and unwind after a stressful day at work. I also use it to take a breather writing articles almost eight hours a day.
So you can assume I have read about the latest reviews on the upcoming movies before they are show out in the market, know what albums the current singers are recording and most of all, are familiar with what celebrities wore to the Emmy’s and Oscar’s and the bags they use on a daily basis based on the pictures of paparazzis.
So I am fed up with Lindsay Lohan and her never ending split and getting back together with Sam Ronson. I swear this girl is heading the way of Britney Spears, before she made a smashing comeback. I am always amazed how Victoria Beckham always has the BIGGEST sunglasses and that she wears 4 inch heels and a stifling outfit when riding on a plan! I love reading and looking at the celebrity kids though. It makes the celebrities more human for me – how Jennifer Garner always picks up Violet in her preschool and how Katie Holmes Cruise tags Suri along everywhere. (Don’t you agree Suri is such a little lady? This girl has fashion sense!)

Addiction can be a very dangerous thing. I think it is scarier because the addict never gets to admit he is one up until he needs real help from a doctor or needs to admit himself to rehab. And take note, we are not talking addiction the usual stuff here – illegal drugs, smoking, alcohol – but more – food, power (politics), even sex! Remember the scandal Tiger Woods brought himself into? He checked himself in a sex rehab center for that. I think that celebrities are more susceptible to addictions because of the lifestyle they lead. It can be depressing, overwhelming, tiring and pressuring to be in your best form everywhere and to live your life under a microscope all the time. Do you remember Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Friends’ Chandler Matthew Perry went into rehab for addiction to painkillers? Most celebrities do get checked into rehab but they choose centers that are highly confidential and somewhat exclusive. Passages Malibu Addiction Cure Center in Malibu, CA is one of them. They do not only detoxify the person but they do a holistic approach to healing the person, aiming to find the root cause why they became addicted in the first place. They strive to make a very peaceful environment conducive to retreat and healing. Check out the videos of Passages Malibu and find out for yourself. You can also follow Passages Malibu on Twitter! One of the things Passages Malibu Addiction Cue Center prides itself in is the privacy and confidentiality of their patient cases. That is why many celebrities have chosen to get admitted to their center.

I was watching the news earlier today and it was reported that the effects of El Nino have been devastating, to think we are still at the start of the phenomenon. It is predicted to get worse, with temperatures rising up to 42C. Dams have reached almost critical levels and basic food commodities like rice and sugar prices are expected to go up. I saw fishponds have a lot deadkill already. One fishpond alone lost 10,000 fishes (tilapia). Can you imagine how life is in the city? The husband tells me he cannot even go out because the heat is unbearable. Most houses are firing up the airconditioners if they have one, which still has adverse effects on the environment. GeOasis has conceptualized a new system called geothermal heating and air conditioning. These geothermal systems provide the balance to the local environment to provide the most efficient and effective indoor comfort conditions, while protecting our environment.Examples of geothermal cooling systems are hot water hybrids, duel fuel systems, solar A/C systems and geothermal hybrids. All the hardships we are experiencing in our environment is an effect of how much we have failed to take care of it in the first place. We must be responsible for it.

While looking for best weight loss supplements online, I came across a news article saying a solar eclipse will be happening today:
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that a partial solar eclipse will be visible in some parts of the Philippines today, January 15, reports the Manila Bulletin.
The eclipse, which will start around 3:49 p.m., will be visible in Metro Manila where the moon will cover almost 40% of the sun. The height of the eclipse will be at 4:53 p.m. and will end by 5:51 p.m. According to the Inquirer, this solar eclipse would be the longest since 1992. It was also reported that the eclipse will be annular, meaning that the sun will appear as a bright ring of fire around the moon in other parts of the world.
The Bulletin published PAGASA’s warning that cautions spectators not to look at the eclipse without protective eye wear.
This will make a great Photo of the Day (POTD) – but my camera lens suck.

You know what’s hot and in these days? Hybrid Cars. Yep, going hybrid is the best and smartest thing to do amidst the global oil crisis we are currently facing. I have heard in the news that there are families selling their cars (SUVS mostly) because they simply cannot afford to fuel it up and go places. Many have traded their unleaded-driven cars to diesel-run ones. Most taxi cabs use the LPG device to run mileage on. But using hybrid cars are going to be the future mode of transport for tomorrow.
Basically, a hybrid car is a vehicle that has two engines: a gas engine and an electric engine. Today, there are newer models of hybrid cars – but nothing beats the popularity of the Toyota Prius. These days, however, it is easier to find hybrid cars – and I predict this will be the car for 2009.
And why wouldnt you go hybrid? You’ll spend less on gas, help the environment, lessen dependence on foreign oil imports and if in the US, be eligible for tax credits! It doesnt necessarily mean that by using an electric engine you need to be plugged in – just use hybrid car batteries, it’s just charging a battery!
