Countdown to Christmas!

It’s the 15th! We are going to be starting the Simbang Gabi tonight, the Blessed Mary is going to visit our house for a week (Fatima Devotion/Block Rosary) and Matthew wraps us school with a Field Trip on the 18th! It’s going to be one busy week as I try, for the last time, to have our house in order in time for the Holidays. I have failed to give my kids a nice Christmas countdown but I’m going to make up for it with our 9 Days of Christmas :D

We have been eating like crazy the past few days – all junk foods given by relatives. I’d need diet pills with the rate I’m going. I better start going on detox soon.

So here is our plan of family activities this week:
Monday: Matthew’s last day of exams, Mama Mary goes to our house, Simbang Gabi at 8PM.

Tuesday: No classes for Matthew. Go to Waltermart to buy his gift for his Monita, do grocery shopping for the field trip. Simbang Gabi at 8PM

Wednesday: Matthew’s Christmas Party. Simbang Gabi at 8PM.

Thursday: Matthew’s Field Trip. Simbang Gabi at 8PM

Friday: Edil comes home. Simbang Gabi at 8PM

Saturday: Family time, I hope. Simbang Gabi at 8PM

Sunday: Matthew’s 8th Birthday! Simbang Gabi at 8PM

This actually means I’ll be spending less time online. Enjoy the holidays.

This was supposed to be a Ten on Tuesday entry a few weeks ago but things got in the way and Im only able to do it now. :)

I have broken them down into two, the materialistic and non-materialistic parts :D

I would be the happiest person in the world if:

1. My only wish for Christmas comes true – Edil gets relocated here for work.
2. My kids have the best Christmas yet.
3. We have nice Christmas pictures/portraits. My family (meaning mine + my extended family) – have such a very frustrating tradition: We dress to the nines every holiday season, get stressed along the way, get late along the way, then the dressing to the nines is useless. Everybody, most especially my parents, are always at each others’ throats already. LOL.
4. I get to have two days all by myself to do the things I love – with money to go to a spa. I need it.
5. I get a workstation complete with lamps and organizers like this:

Now for the part I might actually have a chance in getting :D

Let the countdown begin!
It’s only 30 days before Christmas!!
Not once, in my 27 years of existence, have I NOT looked forward to the holidays.
Que se hodang walang pera, go pa din :)

Christmas always makes me remember good food, love, good chilly weather and most of all, just happy people talking and laughing. I belong to a family who values holidays, have traditions and really love each other even if we dont have a choice but be relatives :) .

So yes, Im officially excited about Christmas! I want to put up a tree, get some lights, buy a parol and the works but I cant seem to make up my mind what to do first :) For one, I cant decide the colors on the ornaments for our tree. It’s going to be our first tree in a house of our own so I better make sure it can still look good and the ornaments recycl-able in the years to come. I want to have lights and yes, excited ako magsabit ng parol at wreath sa labas ng bahay namin kasi sa Becerra baka nakawin lang ng mga tao kaya di kami nagsasabit sa labas, hahaha!

I need to wait for Edil to come home so we can do it together. Syempre, kelangan ng picture picture nyan eh. I need to throw stuff away first. Our bookshelves needs dusting and some rearranging too.

Yun muna ang dapat maayos dito sa bahay namin.
Hope you are having a great day!

It seems all mommy bloggers (who actually earn in dollars and would benefit from buying online) are on a mad rush to get some early Christmas Shopping done so stuff can arrive just in time for the holidays!

How I wish I can claim to be one of them – heehee. Learning from last year’s experience (I had to strike that out – Glo will claim I never learn), I didn’t buy miscellaneous stuff which will not survive after Christmas season. I only bought clothes for us, not much though (I intend to go to a friend who sells at tiangges for that) and some Ikea items I love to hoard (picture and CD boxes). Perhaps worth waiting for is the Corelle dinnerware I’m getting. I bit the bullet and decided to get one. A set costs 5k-9k here while at Walmart it only costs $60 :) Im so tired of having melamine mismatched plates. I want something nice for us to eat even if we eat noodles :D

I didn’t get many toys for the kids (I dont have that much money). Just one item for each of them – nope, not spilling, I know my family reads my blog :P I am so sure they will have lots of gifts and more money than their parents come holiday season. So I just got one present for them from us (Mommy and Daddy). Edil will take care of the gifts from Santa (Matthew still believes in him).

Even if we don’t have money this year (well, we never have money anyways but last year I had a lot of extras because I had work and I earn big from blogging), I’m so excited because 1) This is my first Christmas at home – no work! Edil has Christmas vacation too so we are planning it very carefully. For once, Edil is PLANNING! He told me to have something nice planned for each day of December (like the Advent Calendar) and do a treasure hunt, with a Bible story as a guessboard (Matthew is all about the bible these days). I can’t believe Edil actually said that – Im supposed to be the one thinking of ideas like that :D ) 2) This is our first Christmas on our own (rented) house – I want to decorate it with my ideas! (I hope I can go with Mommy to Divi soon) 3) And if we get truly lucky, maybe someone special will come home this Christmas too :D
