An apple a day keeps the doctor at bay.

Because of a friend’s recommendation, I went ahead and bought a juicer last month. It is a bit expensive (for me) but worth the investment if you prefer juices instead of shakes (using a blender – which we don’t have). I have fatty liver and need to detox since I can’t take medicines because my liver is compromised. My doctor says that it is not as bad as it looks. He told me that if I even go on a strict diet (no fatty/fried foods and processed foods) for a month, my blood levels will go down drastically.

Anyway, since my kids are into processed foods too – hotdog, ham, bacon, Pampanga’s best tocino and longganisa – I want to clean their colons too. My kids are fruit lovers, especially Marts. She eats an apple a day plus many oranges (Mandarin oranges are her favorite) My friend told me that apple carrot juice is great for the colon. We initially take it once a week but lately try to drink more than once a week (around 3-4 days a week). I drink one glass (200ml) and it really has helped me go “regular”.

Matthew loves the juice while Martha needs to be cajoled into drinking.

The salesguy/demoguy let me taste pineapple malunggay juice and it was yummy! A friend also said that a great detox is this recipe: apple, cucumber, celery, pechay, tomato and a thumb-sized portion of ginger. I tried this initially but put in a WHOLE ginger (aka luya) — it was horrible! (Haha) So make sure you use the correct proportions!

A lot of my friends are expecting either their first baby or their second baby already. For those who have been pregnant already before, most of them find themselves ‘reviewing’ all the pregnancy information they had when they were pregnant with their first child. Whereas for the first time mothers, they are always eager for any pregnancy advice that they can get in any way. In this age where information is freely available online, there is an unlimited number of ways of getting oneself educated. So for my friends who are expecting, below are the usual sources of information for pregnant mothers.

· Books. Countless books on pregnancy and child care have been printed all over the world. Do not limit yourself to brand new books. I often find old and yet really good pregnancy books in secondhand book shops.

· Websites. There are several good websites on pregnancy, child care, and womens health as well. Most of the time, signing up with them is free so you get access to loads of articles and updates. Some of these websites will regularly email you of information that is appropriate for the stage of your pregnancy.

· Online Communities. Who else can be a better source of information than those who have gone through pregnancy themselves? There are numerous online communities of mothers that you can join and you could freely ask for advice or insights on anything. You could even share any knowledge that you may have acquired as well.

Deciding to get pregnant is a big deal. It entails and puts a lot of stress on a woman’s body so women need to be always at the peak of their health especially when they are in the childbearing ages. In my group of friends, at least three women are pregnant every year – talk about baby boom!

The goal of losing weight, looking good (or better) and being healthy are struggles to many. So many people often have losing weight or developing healthy eating habits as their number one resolution every first month of a new year. Yet so many still fail. For some, it is not merely a problem with discipline or resolve, there are health issues like those challenged with metabolic disorders.

This is where one will need help from weight loss doctors. At Ideal Wellness, their goal is to educate their patients on how to lose weight that targets fats and spares muscles. Their supervised weight loss program is based on the principle of letting the body learn to live off of the body’s own fat reserves. Most diets our in the market these days are often composed of high-protein foods rich in saturated fats. Their diet program restricts sugars, both simple and complex, until weight loss is achieved.

Once weight loss is achieved, there are still bound to be problem areas, and this is where their non-invasive laser lipolysis comes in. It can safely and effectively treat problem area like the abdominal area, buttocks, thighs and back for sessions lasting 30 to 40 minutes each. The most important thing is that this procedure is pain-free.

Once weight loss and problem areas are treated or solved, you would just need to maintain your weight and body shape. This is where nutrition comes in, and Ideal Wellness takes care of it too. Their Ideal Protein selections are delicious, practical and are available in different textures and flavors, satisfying anyone’s preferences for food. They also offer the 23-day NOVI-Cleanse program to help the liver, the kidneys and the colon to eliminate accumulated toxins in the body.

As you can see, Ideal Wellness takes care of your body’s whole being, from treating, spot-correcting and maintaining your weight. Not only will you lose weight, you will also be cleaning your body inside from toxins and fats.

What I have been hearing from the news are depressing. There are dengue fever outbreaks and incidences of HFM (Hand, foot and mouth) illnesses in school. Being worried would be natural for a mom like me who has two schooling kids who spend more time in school five days a week than they do at home.

Rainy season is here once again, and just when you get ready for the flu season, you also need to make sure that your house is safe from molds as they flourish in damp areas with little humidity. I learned from the news that molds are dangerous when inhaled. Most common health problems like allergies and respiratory infections that don’t go away are signs of mold intoxication.

Always test for mold regularly, there is a mold test kit you can use yourself or hire a professional to do the mold test for you. With ImmunoLytics, they give you a mold test kit which include mold analysis and a free phone conference with an environmental expert. They and their specialists will discuss the results of the mold test with you, make recommendations and refer you to appropriate specialists, if necessary. The specialists include a nationwide network of doctors, allergists, environmental inspectors (people who find the problem) and remediation contractors (people who fix the problem). They will make sure the mold problem gets solved until the end, instead of just detecting them firsthand.

With the recent changes in our weather, so many kids are getting sick. My kids were not spared from flu season. They have never been sick as much as when flu season hit this year as compared to the last two years. We even had an episode where they needed to be confined. We have been recommended to give them health supplements in the form of vitamins, aside from the usual vitamins they take everyday (I even have them on double doses of Vitamin C everyday). My friends have discovered a super vitamin store called SuperVits.com where you can find all the right vitamins, nutritional supplements, and natural formulas to allow you to meet your personal goals, address particular conditions naturally, and live a healthier lifestyle.

Here are some of the vitamins or supplements offered in their store: Zyflamend vitamins are soft gel capsules that promote a healthy inflammation response, healthy joint function and normal cell growth.

Jarrow formulas manufacture the Hawthorn tablets, which promoted efficient heart function.

Now Vitamins manufacture the Garden of Life and Healthy Origins. The Garden of Life offers calcium, omega 3, antioxidants, iron and so many more. Healthy Origins are classified as high-metabolite immunogens that nourishe the body’s immune system to strengthen resistance and maintain wellness.
