I have been driving myself to death these days with the amount of work I have accepted. I am not one to complain though, as my type of work is not something that is always consistent. As my fellow co-workers always say, “Strike while the iron is hot!”. We need to take advantage of every opportunity the comes our way. I need to save more these days because 1)Christmas is coming and 2) We need to save up for 2012 . So in short, it would mean more expenses which means more money is needed.
All work and no play makes for a very dull and stressful life so I really try to find ways to relax a little – one that doesn’t involve eating! (If I eat some more, I swear I’d need a haul from one place to another.)
Too bad I am not a fan of going to casinos. My former office mates have been going to the new casino Resorts World and they have been telling me to join them for a couple of drinks and games of cards. It is similar to casinos in Vegas, they say. I told them they can find as much with online casinos sites, they just have to be sure they are legit sites. It is sometimes hard to find a gaming site that is not a phishing site.

Who doesn’t remember the iconic game of Pac Man? Even if you were not a child during the 1980’s, you recognize the symbol that looks like a yellow pie with a piece cut out of it. These days, there is an online version of Pac Man, Mrs. Pac Man and hundreds of other arcade-type games that you can play online without spending a roll of quarters to work on your skills. Once you get used to using the controls on the keyboard, you won’t even want to go back to using one of those old-fashioned joysticks.

I never thought I would be as dependent to the internet as I am now. Eight years ago, I didn’t even own an e-mail address, much less a computer of my own! All of that changed when I discovered blogging. I planned 80% of my wedding online, I discovered friends, I became addicted to social networking (Friendster, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter – you name it, I probably have had an account with it. I deleted my profiles on most of them though, I am just keeping profiles at sites I am active at – Facebook and Twitter) and by a blessing in disguise, I was able to make a living out of the internet. Now I work full time from home! As a mom with two young kids, this is the best set-up until they are old enough for me to go back to work.
While the internet has many advantages, it sure can have many distractions as well. Shopping online is one big temptation. You need to be disciplined with money so you don’t do any shopping by impulse. What I do is always keep my online bank account at zero balance so I don’t have any money to shop with! There are also so many games! I play a lot of mind and word games when I need to clear out my mind (must’ve got that from my Dad). Just recently, I prayed that I have strength to delete the games application in my Facebook account and I am happy I have been successful. But now the games caesars online have been tempting me! Card games are a favorite of mine and while I have not yet learned how to play poker, BlackJack is something I can play very well!
I love how my circle of friends involved married couples like me. It helps me stay in track and realized that whatever we go through as a couple is normal. It should be noted though that all of us married couples agree that marriage is a sacred thing and is something that cannot be broken. It helps weather through some rough patches. Case in point, one of my friends complained that her husband has a new addiction: poker. And he has dedicated a night of playing it with friends until the wee hours of the morning. It turns out that half of the husbands on our group are addicted to it as well. One wife admitted that she bought a poker kit with a matching table and indulges her husband and his friends by hosting poker nights at home. It’s better for her peace of mind that her husband is home.
The husband has not been trying out poker yet. They told me the Internet has change the way poker is now played. The game is now more accessible to the masses than it ever been, and more people are being sucked in. Thanks to numerous online poker rooms, people from all over the world could play poker for money at any time. This created a sensation that has made the WSOP even a bigger event that it already was.
The WSOP, World Series of Poker, is one of the most lucrative poker competitions that is currently hosted and has been since its initial launch in 1971. It started out as just a five card stud tournament, but has now grown a lot . It’s a basic tournament which subjects a number of players to a knock out phase with the eventually players topping the table, all receiving a cash prize. And do you know how much is at stake? $7M!!
