Saturday 9: Enjoying Your Holiday
Im late!
1. There are several religious holidays going on this weekend. Any plans?
We spent the Holy Week at the BNP Shrine. We really take time to celebrate Lent and not spend it doing anything else.
2. Do you look forward to holiday events or do they stress you out?
I look forward to it but it stresses me out ~ especially the money part 
3. Do you have any traditional meals that you will eat?
None.
4. We are changing seasons. What are you looking forward to?
Swimming. I’m not a fan of the summer season because it means heat and sickness for the kids but they love to swim!
5. Around here it is turning to spring. What signals spring to you?
That I need to clean 
6. What is your favorite season and why?
Christmas. Because it’s a magical season!
7. Do you have a favorite food when dining out?
Pizza lately.

Iced Tea
9. When is your next big night out?
Tonight – I’m going to be meeting my online friends for a party! I’m just finishing work and reading more about Texas auto insurance before I prepare.
Well, it’s actually vacation time for the kids already. My son has been at home 24 hours a day seven days a week for two weeks already and you know what that means. It means I can hear Martha shout “Mommy!” or cry every hour, or I need to get off my desk to break their wrestling matches before one could hit their head or gets hurt. It means I hear, “Mommy, I’m bored” every thirty minutes and my son asking me what we will do next after every activity like eating lunch, taking a bath, etc. It drives me crazy. However, patience and discipline are two of the things I’ve been trying to pray (and work for) for this Lent.
So what do we do if we cannot go for a vacation right away? Create a scene and pretend play in the house . My kids love pretend and imaginative play. Aside from watching DVDs, it’s the play that would last the longest with the two of them being at peace with each other. There is a Fruit hammock that we try to make since they like doing Tarzan imaginative play and since they love bananas (and bananas are abundant here, cheap too), they eat right off the hammock and pretend they are Tarzan and Jane!
I’d like to get one though, for real this time: 
That would make a great table centerpiece!
I have taken notice of all those interpersonal, self-help books through the Oprah Winfrey Show. She regularly showcases them, even in her site and it has been proven to be helpful to many people. Basically, Self Help for the Mind says that in order for one to be able to master himself and get self-fulfillment, he needs to take issues within himself and tackle it first. You cannot help others if you don’t help yourself first. So true, isn’t it? I really don’t know where this all started but back in the 90’s when depression and suicide among the 30-40 age group was rising up, psychologists came out with these self-help books.

The heat is terrible these days. I know I say this year after year but the weather during summer season I think is getting worse each year. Blame it on global warming. I actually cannot even begin to imagine how humid it is in the city. If we, who live in the mountains, experience heat, what more those in the city, which has smog and absolutely no trees? Well, the heat here is not as bad as I think it is. It is hot, if you walk outside but it isn’t humid because we have a lot of trees – there is also constant winds which are still cool to the skin. In the evenings, it gets cooler and we hardly feel it is summer.
However, when there are signs of rain the next day, it gets really humid. I’d wish for an All Year Cooling and Heating system but that would be asking for too much since we live in a tropical country already!
If you are not familiar with headhunting, let me give you a brief explanation about it. Basically, if you need a job and have very good credentials, you can refer yourself to a headhunter – a headhunter is someone who works for an Executive Recruitment Firm who looks for a job for you and refers you to a good company. I have been offered jobs by headhunters back when I was still working. If you are working in a call center, agents with positions are always pirated by other companies and offered better compensation. But I couldn’t leave my company because it is so great for my studies and the account I was in was not strict with leave time. It was very family friendly – I was even on AM shift for three years!
