(Because I haven’t even started doing the July-December roundup!)
2008 Wrap Up — Second Half Edition:
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE THAT YOU’VE NEVER DONE BEFORE?
I’ve never moved out on my own before. I also haven’t posed with a movie poster even when I was a teenager – but I did when I watched Twilight
DID YOU KEEP YOUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS?
Some of them yes. I actually was good last year. I hit 4 out of the six goals I made for myself.
DID ANYONE CLOSE TO YOU GIVE BIRTH?
Yes! With my age, a lot of friends and acquaintances are settling down and starting a family. Most are even working on baby number 2
DID ANYONE CLOSE TO YOU DIE?
A family friend died. She was especially fond of Martha.
WHAT COUNTRIES DID YOU VISIT?
None
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE FOR 2009 THAT YOU LACKED in 2008?
Savings and good health
WHAT DATE WILL REMAIN ETCHED UPON YOUR MEMORY AND WHY?
June 8, 2008
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT OF THE YEAR?
We survived moving out on our own and I finally was able to quit my job after five years! Let us hope it will not take another 5 years to quit the one I’m working on right now. LOL
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST FAILURE?
Not losing weight, forever and ever.
DID YOU SUFFER ILLNESS OR INJURY?
Yes. Ironically, the whole time I had Maxicare I was never hospitalized but three months after resigning from work, I had dengue! I should consider myself lucky because with they way I ate, I didn’t develop diabetes (Im not saying I wont though if I dont control myself). Bottomline: If it’s in your genes, get checked. Women who develop diabetes commonly complain of vaginal dryness and itching, gradual loss of vision and thirstiness
WHAT WAS THE BEST THING YOU BOUGHT?
The Dell Inspiron 1525 pa din
WHOSE BEHAVIOR MERITED CELEBRATION?
My kids — they grew up so fast and while they are still a bratty bunch, they are learning to have some manners!
WHOSE BEHAVIOR MADE YOU APPALLED AND DEPRESSED?
None really. I steer far away from people who appall me
WHERE DID MOST OF YOUR MONEY GO?
Paying bills and buying groceries.
WHAT DID YOU GET REALLY, REALLY, REALLY EXCITED ABOUT?
Christmas
WHAT SONG(S) WILL ALWAYS REMIND YOU OF THINGS THAT LAST YEAR?
Hmmmm. So many eh.
COMPARED TO THIS TIME, LAST YEAR, ARE YOU:
I. HAPPIER OR SADDER? Happier
II. THINNER OR FATTER? I refuse to answer this question.
III. RICHER OF POORER? Richer, I think.
WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU’D DONE MORE? Read more books.
WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU’D DONE LESS OF? Spent useless time on the web.
DID YOU FALL IN LOVE? Oh yes, with Gong Yoo and Edward Cullen
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE TV PROGRAM? Survivor Philippines kept me sane.
DO YOU HATE ANYONE NOW THAT YOU DIDN’T HATE THIS TIME LAST YEAR? None
WHAT WAS THE BEST BOOK YOU READ? The Twilight Series
WHAT WAS YOUR GREATEST MUSICAL DISCOVERY? I stick to pop and R&B
WHAT DID YOU WANT AND GET? What I wanted, I got
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE FILM OF THIS YEAR? I didn’t watch that much movies.
WHAT DID YOU DO ON YOUR BIRTHDAY, AND HOW OLD WERE YOU? I was 27 and I honestly forgot what I did – which means I didn’t do anything special!

December is halfway over – before you know it, it’s going to be Christmas and with a blink of an eye, 2009 has come!
Remember my AWK#3: Halfway There tag? Well, we are just going to be continuing what we have done – this time from July to December! No worries if you werent able to do the first one. Just join in!
Little How-To:
Here’s what I did, I posted my roundup month per month, with an equivalent word (I planned this for scrapping year end month to month memories), and posted some highlights per month (your blog will come in handy here). If it’s too tedious for you, you can just list some memorable things/accomplishments/disappointments that you remember or do the survery I snagged from Glo (which you can see below – Im a sucker for these things I did it as well). If you have your Things To Look Forward To or resolutions from last January, link that as well. At the end of your post, please tell me what are the things you look forward to with the remaining months of the year (Masyado atang kumplikado to no? Hehehe – You will thank me for this!)
And you can do this as well!

Finally, after such a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG break, AWK is back. I had a loooooooooooooooong draft about this week’s (or month’s) tag. But the last minute, I decided to just scrap about it and share it with my kids in the future (nope – not sharing online even on Flickr. I honestly feel if it needs to be seen by the world, it needs to be in print! LOL). There are certain things Id like to keep for myself, and well, if you read my blog, you’d find bits and pieces already!
Anyway, for this week, I want to SEE you. Post your most recent pictures. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t look great. I want to see more than what is a normal avatar. Take note that it needs to be RECENT. Can you believe I can use an avatar dated 2 years ago? Time for things to change
Secondly, I want to KNOW you. Just YOU. Sans kids, the husband, just YOU. I have a lot of ME tags in my blog – you can use that. What do I want to read: You – Now. It can be as simple as “I love Coke.” or as complex as “I am the crossroads of my life.”
Here is mine:

This is me today. The picture was taken last September 15, after I got my hair dyed (I use the term dye because if I use the word colored you might think it’s a drastic change).
And here is what I want to share for now:
What I wrote: I was the smart kid who had a baby too soon and still refused to get married. I am blessed to still end up with the love of my life who waited. Waited until I was ready to marry him. 24 is my lucky number At age 24, I finished two degrees, had the wedding of my dreams and got pregnant with my mini-me. I feel I have been living my life in the fast lane and Im scared that if I don’t slow down life itself will be gone in a blink of an eye. So that is what Im doing. Slowing down. Walking through life. It is harder than I thought, being used to running all the time. But yes, Im stopping to smell the roses. at last. i managed to finally slow down and enjoy these things: scrapbooking, taking photos, sipping coffee, smelling coffee, collecting scrap kits, blogging, twittering and plurking, kaboodling – it is shopping without spending!, the colors green and aqua blue. pink and brown is still the best though. maintaining my own house. learning domesticity aka cooking. i realized i enjoy losing weight, but still love eating. what a dilemna. i enjoy my kids – eventhough they have made me cry countless of times because of anger and frustration. i enjoy talking, even if it is my fingers talking (aka chatting online). i enjoy family dinners now and talking to my parents. i never thought i would say that. i talk to them more than my husband. i guess that is a bad thing. i enjoy my husband’s company, i only realized that when he is not at home 5 days a week due to work. this is me talking, me who cant wait for him to get out of my sight for an hour back when we were together 24/7. now, i enjoy him more, quirks and all. i enjoy going to tagaytay, a place where you just see things and eat and smell clean fresh air. i enjoy being productive and realizing at the end of the day, i still get to do the things i love. i enjoy setting unreachable goals. i always make sure i work to make them reachable. i love praying, i really hear my god speaking to me. try it sometime. walk through life.
And since I’m especially generous these days – in the spirit of the upcoming holidays, ALL entries posted on or before October 10, 2008 (my Dad’s birthday), will be entered into a random drawing to receive $10! I will be drawing three entries on October 11, 2008, 12NN, Manila time.
Take a picture of yourself. I want to see you.
I’m off to look for potential Chicago jobs at a hospital! Join the fun!

How’d your first six months go? And what are you looking forward to the next six months?
I figured that a half-year roundup will do all of us good – it will make things easier by December when we do a lookback, right? Here’s what I did, I posted my roundup month per month, with an equivalent word (I planned this for scrapping year end month to month memories), and posted some highlights per month (your blog will come in handy here). If it’s too tedious for you, you can just list some memorable things/accomplishments/disappointments that you remember or do the survery I snagged from Glo (which you can see below – Im a sucker for these things I did it as well). At the end of your post, please tell me what are the things you look forward to with the remaining months of the year (Masyado atang kumplikado to no? Hehehe – You will thank me for this!)
Here is mine. I had my Fearless Forecast for 2008 – to which Im proud to say, are almost 40% accomplished.
Here are my goals for the rest of the year:
1. Lose weight.
2. Find balance between work, kids and studying.
3. Focus on what is important.
As you can see, I have decided the rest of the year is going to be all about ME. I realized how can I take care of my family if my own person is out of whack? And I have to confess this is one area Im really really weak – Im so inspired by Jen. A little trivia: She got worried about her health when she read I had PCOS and she just did the 360 turnaround and did the lifestyle change – 34.8 lbs lighter!! Imagine if I was just as motivated when I learned I had PCOS! (HAHA!)
HALFWAY THERE:
**Linking has been a tedious task so Ill go from memory. After I write and publish this, Ill link as soon as I find a related blog entry
January: TRYING TO STAY AFLOAT
Sometimes you just have to take the leap
and build your wings on the way down.
(Yobi Yamada)
The year started out not great at all. Our trusted yaya didnt come back after her supposedly Christmas vacation and the super good maid that replaced her had diabetes and high blood pressure that we needed to let her go. We had to let Martha go with my parents as I still had to work. This month was not good health wise as well – I had PCOS, a high BP scare, Martha was diagnosed with Primary Complex, Matthew had hearing loss which suggested surgery as a solution (which we didnt push through with). Edil turned 29 and spent his birthday in Baguio at a work conference.
February: SURVIVING
With no maid, Matthew was alone for at least two-three hours at home while waiting for either me or Edil to arrive. He was also forced to take the school bus (he didnt want to) and would cry the first two weeks upon arriving in an empty house (this was very hard to take). He would eat what we would prepare ahead and do his homework alone. Weekends were spent in Cavite because it was so expensive bringing Martha to Manila (gas-wise). I turned 27, and ordered G as a gift to myself for all the hard work Ive made the last year. As it is being the love month, my relationship with Edil was blooming.
– little acts sent me over the moon.
Extras: New phone. Celebrating 5 years with PS (I still havent received the watch,by the way). Coffee Prince and Papa Yoo.
March: THRIVING
The main highlight was, bar none, Matthew’s achievement in school. I also made a drastic move and cut my hair! I was also in between everything – my job and quitting. Moving or not. CHANGE was looming. And I was SCARED.
Extras: Twitter, Gong Yoo and Coke Zero were insanely addicting. MBAP Meeting!
April: CHANGE
April na! Packing and waiting for packages to arrive. Proving to myself that Im a rabid certified fan. MOVING IN. Learning the hard way. Leaving work. Settling in. Trying to survive.
Extras: Getting SUN-ed. The Men Hunt Tag.
MAY: EXODUS
Martha turned two. I became a SAHM. New schedules with the kids. Settling in (well, trying to anyway). Great discoveries about my kids – I can talk to them all day. Struggling with online work. More life lessons.
Extras: So many cute highlights about my kids ~ cant enumerate them one by one. May in Pictures.
JUNE: NEW LIFE.
June 8, 2008
Tres ~ rubber and wire. Matthew started school. Father’s Day. The kids get healthier and are really blossoming under a mother’s care. And while I sometimes crave for me time, I cherish everyday I get to have the chance to take care of my kids.
Extras: June in Pictures, started Week in Pictures and Weekend Snapshots
