February was quite a busy month! From doing more work than necessary, looking after our health, going to the kids’ school for a week (I think I have memorized the structure of their school playground equipment even), to celebrating birthdays (ehem). Love the love month! Thank you Lord for an awesome February!
1. What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
I am way behind in this area. Thankfully I think I am through watching movies (I have seen that ones I have missed in 2010) so I am going to be reading this March. I still have two Jodi Picoult books and the Eat.Pray.Love book that I have to finish (I always fall asleep reading it!).
However, I want to share sites I always read. I have them in my reader and I find them very inspirational:
Zen Habits – He promotes minimalism and stresses that life can be happy with LESS.
Simple Mom – The network of mommy bloggers who have tips for parenting kids of all ages, practical ways of keeping house, and being able to get some growth for yourself.
Simple Kids – Their tagline says it all – Uncomplicated Parenting in a Complex World.
Tight Wad Blog – Frugal tips.
Andrea Lucado – I just discovered her blog and I love her Love of Self series.
2. What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
Tangled
Black Swan
Gulliver’s Travels
Little Fockers
The Tourist
Love and Other Drugs
Finished Baker King (Korean drama series).
3. What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
So many things!
We went to Tagaytay with Edil’s side of the family. It seems they are going to be settling down within our area in the next few years. Yey for closer family!
Agnes turned 24. The kids had a Valentine’s party (buti pa sila!). Then I turned 30 with a simple celebration.
Then there was the kids’ Foundation Anniversary Celebration.
Matthew had his first experience with Photojournalism too.
4. What gifts did I give and/or receive?
Edil treated me on my birthday, no big gifts though as we are mindful on how we spend these days. My very good friend got me the Urban Decay Naked pallette for my birthday though! I have been waiting for it to become available for the longest time!
5. What special or unusual purchases did I make?
I haven’t shopped last month! Go me! We bought a stove-top griller and a turbo broiler for the house, and that’s it!
6. What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
The first week of February we went to our respective doctors and I need a complete rehab. Slowly making my way, it is hard but I can do this!
7. What were my accomplishments this month?
I had so many scrapped pages! I also am halfway organizing our pictures that I may even have the chance to print loose prints, my Mom has been asking for them ever since. We also started running (first day yesterday). I hope we can keep it up!
8. What were my disappointments this month?
Hypocrisy I think. Sometimes you really do not know who is true to you anymore.
9. How did I do on my goals for the month? (Or any current short or long term goals)
I am taking it slowly with my weight loss.I dont want to go on a crash diet and have it rebound on me. So I have not taken soda in weeks! I sip when we go out during weekends but Coke is banned from our house!
10. Anything else noteworthy to include?
Aside from Glee, our whole family is now hooked on American Idol!
Too many earthquakes (New Zealand) and civil wars (Egypt and Tunisia), snow in Northern CA. Signs of the times.
Awards season in the US – Grammys, Oscars, SAG – the red carpet is a source of trends.

1. What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
Unfortunately, I never got to reading anything this month except for the latest issue of Yes! Magazine.
I have only read healthcare job sites and a lot of blogs! I would need to remedy that this month!
2. What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
We watched so many movies! Matthew was able to watch Gulliver’s Travels with his cousins and Tron Legacy with his Lolo on the big screen. Meanwhile, Edil and I were able to watch the ff. movies: Salt, Killers, Knight and Day, Inception, Charlie St. Cloud, You Again, Just Wright, Buried, Life as We Know It, Going the Distance, Just Married and a lot of old movies (Walk to Remember, Proposal, etc) that we watched before. I got to watch And I Love You and My Amnesia Girl too
3. What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
We went to Disneyland HK for four days with the kids. It was our first trip out of the country as a family and it was an experience to remember. I honestly think Edil and I loved it more (the trip and Disneyland) than the kids. Up to now, we are still talking about it, reliving our experience and looking at our pictures almost everyday. While the kids – I think they tend to live on the now. They will appreciate it when they grow up though I’m sure.
It was the third quarter PTC meeting too, and Matthew and Martha were part of the Top 10 in their respective classes (5th and 4th). We received a lot of positive remarks on our little princess and some frustrating notes about our little tweener. It is hard to switch parenting approaches with kids who have a huge age gap, I tell you!
My cousin from the US also visited and we spent a weekend gorging on non-stop food and talking about anything under the sun. We now have kids (almost half of us) and it makes me feel I am really growing up (and how our aunts and uncles are growing old).
We celebrated Edil’s birthday the usual way too – at his parents’ place. We treated the kids out, I made him blow his cake and we drank tequila! Before that, we went out as a family and ate at Yellow Cab and went to Starbucks afterwards.
4. What gifts did I give and/or receive?
Unfortunately, I didn’t receive nor give any! We don’t really give each other gifts during our birthdays. And we just came from a big trip (Disney) so we were trying to cut down on our expenses.
5. What special or unusual purchases did I make?
Nothing – not even a digital kit. I am so proud!
6. What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
Well, this is one area I really did not focus one ever since so I am getting the hard consequences. For the past weeks I have not been feeling well and I knew something was wrong already. When I was having a massage, the masseuse noticed I had a lump in my ribcage so I had an ultrasound and it turns out I have a slightly enlarged liver. I came back the next day for a complete blood work-up and my cholesterol levels were absurdly high. So when the going gets tough, I have no choice but to comply. I don’t get what I don’t deserve, so here I am, sick! Don’t let that happen to you, take care of your health!
7. What were my accomplishments this month?
Being able to finish an album of client which has been pending for so long. I cannot believe I finished 60 pages in 4 days!
I had some invite layout requests and it was an added bonus to my incoming cash for the month.
Decluttering again. Our house is slowly getting there!
8. What were my disappointments this month?
My health. And some projects of mine not being paid on time, making me stress about meeting our living expenses.
9. How did I do on my goals for the month? (Or any current short or long term goals)
It’s the start of the year – I have no progress reports on anything except that I have been able to do my Four People Twelve Times and Us Right Now – goals I want to have every month for the whole year.
10. Anything else noteworthy to include?
I am addicted to Instagram (an app in my iPhone) that I have not picked my LX3 in weeks!
