Hummer Story nth Edition

So our hummer gets a new name, courtesy of the husband. He has named it Iron Hide (because it’s made of stainless steel!). After we have spent money on it having, it is now running smoothly, no problem with brakes, tires whatsoever. Except for one thing. Its electrical wiring is messed up so every two weeks I think our headlights go off. We just had it repaired, again. And I am crossing my fingers that this is the last for the year, or until we finally are able to buy our own vehicle.

Letter to Santa by the Kuya

The Big brother also sent a letter to Santa, with the opening “I know I have been naughty last year that is why I didn’t get any gifts, but I think I am nicer this year so I hope I get gifts that I like….” and then he proceeded to list items he would like to have like:
1. Books. He was very specific and he listed around six titles he would like to have
2. Two pairs of, in his own words, “cool” Nike shoes. Maybe I should start waiting for shoebuy coupons to come out?
3. Clothes.
4. And a Monopoly game!

When It Is Dad’s Turn to Make Dinner

More often than not, moms are the ones in charge of the kitchen. Gender biases aside, more moms are the ones who cook and prepare the food. Sometimes though, dads would make lunch or dinner from time to time.

Very easy dinner recipes from tidingsmag.com will save any dad whenever it is their turn to make lunch or dinner. Although the website also has some recipes that need more fancy stuff, many are easy dinner recipes that would only take a few minutes to make. The website offers recipes for different kinds of food: appetizer, main course, soup, salad, snacks, drinks, and many more. If dad would like to make the meal complete with dessert, there are cake recipes that he can use. The wine suggestion for different meals would also come in handy if dad and mom would like to have a drink.

During times when dad is left alone with the kids, he can even keep the kids busy by helping them bake with the cookie recipes he can get from the website. It would serve another purpose because the cookies would be great as snacks for the kids. Tidingsmag.com is a great resource not just for the recipes but for the food and wine articles that it offers.

Sofa Hunt

We are trying to slowly revamp our house furniture, since we really haven’t owned our “own” stuff ever since we moved out on our own two years ago. We are starting with appliances, slowly buying, repairing or replacing each one and after we have accomplished that, we moved to things we need but don’t own yet. After accomplishing that, we are now at the stage where we re-think and reevaluate stuff in our home and decide if we can replace it, or just let it be. I am torn about the sofa set we have. It is as old as I am, and is the only piece of furniture I have from our childhood home. I hate for it to go away but we might be better off with a bigger, more comfortable sofa set. I have been looking at the sofas at sofasofa.com and fell in love with the Hammond 3 seater sofa with loose cover. I need one that can be changed periodically as I still have children under 10 who can leave spills, stains and crayon marks anywhere they go. Plus at least I can change seat covers anytime I want to match the events at home, like this upcoming holiday season for instance!

Some children naturally go through a picky eating stage where they are very difficult to feed or when they only eat a particular type of food. The key to preventing this to be the norm for your child is to slowly encourage him or her to eat different kinds of food. Below are some tips to help you out.

  • Check the appetite. Sometimes a child would refuse to eat simply because he or she is not hungry. Do not force your child to eat because it would only make things worse. He or she will eat eventually and when that happens, be ready with healthy recipes that would nourish him or her.
  • Make it fun. Who says a healthy diet cannot be fun? Serve their favorite dips and sauces with broccoli, carrots, and other vegetables. You can also use cookie cutters in various shapes to make their dishes a visual feast.
  • Ask for help. Your child might have an idea or two when it comes to healthy snacks that he or she would like. You can also consult tidingsmag.com for recipes that will add variety to your menu.
  • Be patient. Do not be disheartened if your child refuses to eat chicken and you have a ton of chicken recipes you cannot wait to try. Your child will eventually eat chicken if you patiently introduce him to it a little at a time.
  • Be a role model. You cannot effectively encourage healthy eating on your child if he or she regularly sees you wolfing down junk foods or gulping sodas. Healthy parents and healthy children go together.

Christmas is early.

Somebody bring out the karaoke machine, because for the first time in all our stay here in our little home, we have a Christmas tree that isn’t brought out on Christmas Eve! We bought everything last week and the kids demanded we set it up right away. Our little Christmas village and our nativity scene is also set-up, just need to get stockings for the kids, some trimmings, maybe matching curtains and pillows and we are all set!

Christmas is early.

Lately.

  • The kids are on sembreak the whole week and I am busier than ever. I have had little sleep since Saturday trying to finish everything because we will be going to Manila later this week to have the kids’ monthly check-up, my medical work-up and dental check-ups too. I plan to run as many errands as I can while I am there.
  • I hope we will be able to push through with something we are planning by November as we already have paid for it. I have a great need for a dark circle cream because of the many sleepless nights this has caused.
  • So proud of the big boy:
    My son's first byline :)
He earned his first byline for his school newspaper – an editorial!

Summer of 2007 Album

This was us in 2007. Look how young my kids were – Marts was just a baby then, a month before she turned one:

TitlePage

I made a Summer of 2008 Album for us when we moved out on our own and I was able to do an album for 2007 last night. It was a pretty simple, but at least I was able to make one and the family will be able to see the pictures. There are so many random pictures, most especially of the kids in our room, with our king-sized mattress on the floor and toys everywhere.

Some of my favorite pages:
