Printer cartridges, toner refill, and other tips for keeping the cost of ink down
Posted on Sep 07, 2010 under 2009 Week at a Glance | No CommentSince I consume a lot of ink because of the amount of printing job that I work with, I came up with several ways to bring the cost of my ink down. Here are some of them.
Choose a printer with separate color cartridges
When buying a printer, choose a model that works with separate colored printer cartridges. This way, you can continue printing even if one of the colors is already low or is close to being empty.
Choose a printer that allows compensation with other colors
Choose a printer that allows for compensation of empty colors using other colors. For example, if the black ink is gone, the other colors can be mixed to come up with black colored prints.
Choose a printer that has cheaper cartridges
When choosing a printer, look for the unit that can be fitted with a less expensive refill cartridge. This way, you have an option of buying a cheaper alternative for printing regular documents. Some printers void warranties when fitted with cartridges other those of the same brand.
Keep your empty cartridges
Don’t throw away your empty ink cartridges. You can sell these or you can get a toner refill for a smaller amount.
Consider a laser printer
You can also consider buying a laser printer because a laser printer cartridge can handle more printing jobs than regular ink cartridges. However, getting a replacement can be a little pricey so choose this only if you can afford both the unit and the replacements.
