Water From Home

The country, or at least Metro Manila, is experiencing water shortage at this time. The Philippines was hit hard by El Nino early this year and that affected the water supply too much even if it already started raining in May. Water is rationed to places and families who have currently no access to clean water. And then there are issues of unclean water from the pipes because the lines are old. What I am trying to point out is that bodies are compromised, especially the kids’, because of lack of water. We are not alone in this crisis because I read that at least 37% of the world’s population has no access to water even for basic hygiene and about 1 billion people are not drinking safe and clean water. So this is not just about the Philippines but the Earth. I also read somewhere about the theory where the next world war will not be about oil. Nations will fight over water.

Some may think that this worldwide water problem cannot be solved anymore and we are all doomed in more ways than one. I have not even touched on the bottled water industry that also worsens the deterioration of the earth and water supply. But I am still hoping this problem can be alleviated to sustain the next generations. We can do our share and start from home. We can avoid buying bottled water from the supermarket or the refilling stations. I will ask the kids to bring a jug to school so they will not have to buy anymore. To make sure that my family drinks clean water I went on and researched on water filter pitchers. It is imperative that bacteria, viruses, contaminants, fluoride, chlorination products and chloramines are removed for the drinking water to be safe. The information at www.friendsofwater.com is very helpful I just might order the pitchers from them and have the items shipped here.

Thanks it’s interesting to see the wider perspective when it comes to water supply around the globe. Here in the UK we repair water storage tanks where we can rather than replace.
