Quite a Sentimental Day Today.

image

All because we saw our baby in uniform!

It was a jam-packed and physically draining day. It started off with the great news from Edil that he left his car keys at his locker in the office and we couldn’t find the spare keys at home. Miraculously, I didn’t get mad, simply because we only see each three days out of the seven, why argue within those days? Plus, our tires need to be replaced anyways.

We got a driver to take us around while we did errands. First stop – the kids’ school. We bought their uniforms and they had their ID picture taken. It was a great idea to take the princess along because she got so excited with her uniform. We took her around the classrooms and the comfort room and the library and the church. She told me, “Dito Martha sabi ng Amen, like angel Mom!” (Santacruzan stint!).

After that we went to the mall, and bought two industrial fans. Haha! I was threatening Edil that I will buy an aircon without his permission last Sunday when it was so hot and the kids were so sleepy but cannot sleep. Martha had an attack (not a full blown one though) but it was so hard and frustrating when I could not do anything. Hopefully the weather becomes cooler next month.

We went to eat pizza, Matthew’s choice, as always and I loved the mozarella sticks! I need to have the best weight loss supplement for eating almost half of the order. After that, it was time to shop for the kids’ needs.

Good thing we went on a Friday so we were done in two hours. I was so sentimental buying Martha’s stuff. All her underthings were white and I was mentally telling myself, “A pantylette! My baby is going to wear a pantylette!” Her size is big as well! Matthew’s stuff was jaw-dropping double the price because of his size. Still reasonable but I was just surprised how big my son has grown. His leather shoes are deadly! Haha!

Edil and I agreed I will shop for their supplies alone so that it won’t get too expensive (my kids have a tendency to choose their stuff) and so I can also look at things they still need. But basically, my kids are ready to go to school this June!

Honestly, this is our first hassle-free and stressfree school year. (And I have a fourth grader people! Haha!) Thank You Ama, talaga.

Sheesh, two kids in school already and I’m not even 30 yet!! I feel old!

Hey Gagay!

I am so itching to cut the little princess’ hair especially since she won’t have tied at her back. Her Reason? She wants to be Belle and not Mulan. If you are familiar with the Disney Movies, you’d get her reason. Her bangs are almost up to her chin now so I’m thinking I can get her a layered bob at the back and a shorter one-length cut.

It’s going to be another busy weekend for us. It’s the last weekend before school starts and we still need to buy the kids their school needs. Acid cigars should be the least priority. Edil wants to give one to his American boss as a going-away present.

Lola’s Escort

0520 Matthew has been going to Manila twice in two weeks now. He is now the appointed escort for his grandma whenever my mom needs to go to the city. The terrible heat and long commute is hard for “elders” and it would be better if anything happens. Matthew knows how to call me in case of emergency and he loves going on an “adventure”, as he likes to call it. Never mind if the heat is draining and he throws up during the long ride. Haha! It is better than being stuck with me and his sister and getting picked on most of the time. Poor Big Brother. Hopefully, Martha’s bratty attitude will improve greatly once she realizes she is not the only diva in the universe in school. I am sure my daughter will not be a bully as she is painfully shy and quiet with new people. But you never know – should I look for cheap insurance companies for coverage now? :)

I found this treasure when I was syncing my iPhone to my laptop when we got home last night. My kids treat my iPhone like a Gameboy and play with it all the time. In fact, Matthew and Martha use the Photo and Video Apps more than me (They discovered this cool Hipstamatic app too).

I love this photo. I assume this was during one of the nights I was busy writing articles on asset based lending and they were entertaining themselves. Miraculously, I wasn’t disturbed to break up fights. I remember they waltzed (their Tita taught them how) this night too. I have that on video but I still need to have Edil rotate the frame (I’m a useless techie!)

Matthew took this one too:

My Boys are Carnivores.

My boys eat like they are more worthy on weighing like me than their lanky builds right now. I swear I need all the weight loss products in the world, eat less than they do and they still burn faster than me! Matthew is only nine and he eats as much as his Dad. I always mention this to anybody who will listen (haha!), we now pay for three adults whenever we go out, and Matthew sometimes eat into my food as well (Might as well, I am trying to cut down).

Can you tell life is unfair? I haven’t eaten a baconator yet because it’s 600 calories a pop and yet my dear husband can eat TWO and still not get any fat from it!

Learning How to Ride a Bike

0512

May 12th

Matthew learns how to ride a bike overnight. He has been training how to balance on and off for three weeks now, usually once a week, when the Dad is home.

When we stayed with my parents for a week because Caren went on vacation, Edil told me to make sure Matthew trains on his bike for the week. He practiced all night on a Wednesday and by Thursday, he told me he was able to ride his bike up to the entrance gate 500meters away. Go Matthew! It’s a great exercise for him – he has great bone structure like his Dad (and I think his fat genes too) so he won’t need any hydroxycut max advanced pills when he tries weight training.

Go Tuya!

Dexter: Hero and Villain

A serial killer who kills only those who have gotten away with murder themselves, who is smart and funny, who is fiercely protective of those closest to him. What’s not to love? It just takes one viewing to find out why Dexter is so popular. The characters are certainly an important part of the effectiveness of the Dstar show. Dexter’s smart, foul-mouthed sister is both comic relief and a key to keeping the story rolling for most episodes. Even though she is a good detective, she fails to see how Dexter can manipulate her into discovering what he wants her to see. But the audience is given a reason for Dexter’s dark side, and that seems to allow viewers to understand him and even cheer for him. When he was just a toddler, he saw his mother butchered before him, and he was left for days in his blood. While the realism of this scenario turning a kid into a sociopath is questionable, it makes for good enough drama that the audience feels sympathy for Dexter. The fact that his adoptive father taught him to kill those targets who “deserve” killing makes Dexter into a more heroic figure.

The storyline is key, full of continuing plots that keep the viewer on edge. Often Dexter is faced with difficult situations, and we hear his mental processes as he struggles to decide what he should do. Last season, for instance, a powerful prosecutor discovered Dexter’s secret. But rather than turning him in, the lawman wanted Dexter to teach him the ropes of killing and not getting caught. Dexter was so starved for someone to understand him that he gave in. Of course, it turned out the prosecutor was not the man Dexter thought he was, and the danger of them both getting caught and Dexter having to take the fall soon outweighed having a partner in crime. Dexter killed the prosecutor, creating a sense of relief rather than grief or outrage in the viewer.

Dexter is available on Showtime. It is one show definitely worth watching.

Happy 4th Birthday Marts!

Our little girl turned four last May 9,2010, the same day it was Mother’s Day! We had a simple get-together with my family and my siblings’ special someones (S/Os) and my Mom cooked the usual deal. She received little presents as gifts and I had it wrapped in small packages so it would look like she had many presents – kids just want the joy of opening up presents, really. She didn’t receive corsets but a lot of little nothings – sticker books, stamps, pencils, and a bag from her Ninang Glow.

We don’t have a toddler anymore – kinda bittersweet. I remember when she was 2 and I just quit working so I can take care of her. I used to think that I cant wait for her to grow up so I can go back and run after my dreams. And now she is four and I feel like two years are just too short for me to soak her all in. Next year I am sure I won’t be the best person in the world for her, her hero and the No.1 Mom. But for now and until that happens, I’m going to spoil myself with her endless “I want my Mommy” and “Mommy lang” whinings (Yes, I promise, even if I am so busy and she shouts at her Ate Caren when does the no.2 and tells her, “Ayaw ko sayo, si Mom lang!")
