Chiropractic Care

Coming from a medical background, I sometimes have apprehension about holistic methods of healing, like chiropractic care and acupuncture. But, I would have to admit that it works for a lot of people, so to each his own. It has been a lot helpful for pain relief, most especially.

When you ask which West Des Moines Chiropractic care center is good to take your family to, most residents answer the same center – Hassel Family Chiropractic! They practice family chiropractic care which caters people from all ages. Chiropractic care is a method to maintain good health conditions of the spinal column, discs, related nerves and bone geometry. The fascinating thing is that its done without drugs or surgery. Chiropractors say that it is the art and science of adjusting misaligned joints of the body, especially of the spine!

Lovely Bones

One of my goals this year was to get back to reading. I wanted to try reading other stuff and explore new authors and I picked this book because it was listed as one of the top sellers in the Fiction List in the bookstore. The concept of heaven drew me to it – wouldn’t it be nice if heaven is really everything we imagine and want it to be?

Celebrities on Rehab

Addiction can be a very dangerous thing. I think it is scarier because the addict never gets to admit he is one up until he needs real help from a doctor or needs to admit himself to rehab. And take note, we are not talking addiction the usual stuff here – illegal drugs, smoking, alcohol – but more – food, power (politics), even sex! Remember the scandal Tiger Woods brought himself into? He checked himself in a sex rehab center for that. I think that celebrities are more susceptible to addictions because of the lifestyle they lead. It can be depressing, overwhelming, tiring and pressuring to be in your best form everywhere and to live your life under a microscope all the time. Do you remember Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Friends’ Chandler Matthew Perry went into rehab for addiction to painkillers? Most celebrities do get checked into rehab but they choose centers that are highly confidential and somewhat exclusive. Passages Malibu Addiction Cure Center in Malibu, CA is one of them. They do not only detoxify the person but they do a holistic approach to healing the person, aiming to find the root cause why they became addicted in the first place. They strive to make a very peaceful environment conducive to retreat and healing. Check out the videos of Passages Malibu and find out for yourself. You can also follow Passages Malibu on Twitter! One of the things Passages Malibu Addiction Cue Center prides itself in is the privacy and confidentiality of their patient cases. That is why many celebrities have chosen to get admitted to their center.

Just the Three of Us

I celebrated my 29th birthday treating my kids out to lunch and buying them “presents” for themselves. I would have gotten some fitness equipment for myself with how much I have spent that day, but what I wouldn’t give to make my kids happy. After all, we live in the boondocks. My kids rarely see the mall, let alone shop for the unnecessary things they want. I will give them this day. It’s not my birthday – it’s make-my-kids-happy-so-I-can-be-happy-too  day :)

El Nino

I was watching the news earlier today and it was reported that the effects of El Nino have been devastating, to think we are still at the start of the phenomenon. It is predicted to get worse, with temperatures rising up to 42C. Dams have reached almost critical levels and basic food commodities like rice and sugar prices are expected to go up. I saw fishponds have a lot deadkill already. One fishpond alone lost 10,000 fishes (tilapia). Can you imagine how life is in the city? The husband tells me he cannot even go out because the heat is unbearable. Most houses are firing up the airconditioners if they have one, which still has adverse effects on the environment. GeOasis has conceptualized a new system called geothermal heating and air conditioning. These geothermal systems provide the balance to the local environment to provide the most efficient and effective indoor comfort conditions, while protecting our environment.Examples of geothermal cooling systems are hot water hybrids, duel fuel systems, solar A/C systems and geothermal hybrids. All the hardships we are experiencing in our environment is an effect of how much we have failed to take care of it in the first place. We must be responsible for it.

Sleeping the Same Way

P365_0117

I never knew that Martha and I somehow end sleeping the same way at night. Martha’s sleep patterns have now been regularized, thank God. She goes to bed at 8 or 9PM and wakes up at 6 or 7AM the following day. If she naps in the afternoon, her sleep time gets pushed back to 10-12MN but that’s OK. If she will be going to school next school year, classes start at 11:30AM so all will be well. The best sleep aid really is regular sleep times, I have discovered that now!

Losing the Baggage

My father has been slowly but surely losing weight since last year. He started doing some walking and portion control on what he eats and as of today, he has lost at least 35 lbs without drastic diets or pills. He doesn’t need the best fat burner for men as he said. He just needs commitment and a lifestyle change – which he is slowly but surely committing to. Way to Go Dad!

The Calm Before the Storm.

So….29.

Nothing truly remarkable, earth-shattering, mind-boggling about that. It just leads me one year closer to another decade.

What has become of me during my 20s? I gave birth to two kids, packed on another me, weight-wise, got married, finished two degrees and here I am…doing absolutely nothing. I need more than an anti-wrinkle cream to bring back the old me. I need a makeover, literally and figuratively. The strange thing is, I do not even want the old me back. I guess I need to discover what new “me” I want to be. My bucketlist to 30 begins.
