Exit Signs

Do not worry, I am still alive. I am just so busy with work and trying to clean up the house (never ending task) – throwing out stuff (every week we throw boxes and boxes and yet we still have that much clutter!) and now my tooth is acting up so I haven’t been blogging at all.

I have been to a lot of commercial establishments and sadly, some of them need to have their permits to operate suspended or revoked. In one building, which houses a day care center/school on the second floor, there were no exit signs on every floor. Can you imagine if there will be a fire or an earthquake? People will surely be in panic and they would not know where to go.

I clearly remember a fire tragedy that happened to a club back when I was in high school. A fire razed down the club during March, back when students were celebrating end of school and graduation. A schoolmate perished during the fire that night. Investigations show that the Exit Sign door was there – but it was blocked by the mobile equipment and speakers.

EXIT SIGNS should be prominently displayed and can be spotted even from a hundred meters away. Exit signs can be electrical or non-electrical. You might wonder what if there is an earthquake or fire, electricity is always the first one to get cut off, for precaution. Electrical exit signs made by Green Torch use long-life LED or LEC lighting technology while non-electrical ones use Photoluminescent or Tritium technology.

I personally would prefer using signs that use Photoluminescent or Tritium technology. For one thing, they don’t use electricity, so they are still bound to work even if electricity is cut off. Since there is no electricity used, there is no wiring, you save on electrician costs and what’s more, it installs in minutes. It qualified for energy rebates too, and is low maintenance because there are no bulbs nor batteries to discard and replace and you do not need to rely on generators and inverters.
