Last Saturday, November 28th, my son finally took his second sacrament – he was able to receive his First Communion. We treat this with very high importance as we try to practice going to mass every Sunday religiously.
As usual, I am thankful that his school hasn’t disappointed the parents – especially me. Weeks leading to their rites, we parents went to recollection plus the kids had one too before confession. We also were present during their recollection too. It might take a lot of time for us than required and I am thankful I get to be there for him even if his Dad couldn’t because of work. (Again, one more reason to be grateful for my work even if I am at a burn out).
We were there early as the school always starts on time. They were given their tunics with gold cross necklaces and the chapel was beautiful and well-ventilated. The priest who did the rites was just my age so he was really able to get down to the level of the kids to the point of being cool
. Matthew was the one who delivered the Thanksgiving message after. It was a beautiful event and I am thankful I got a babysitter for Martha that morning. All our eyes and attention was just focused on our firstborn (which rarely happens these days!)
Parents were requested to be in white.
Afterwards, we treated Matthew to his favorite eatery: Teriyaki Boy!
His Lolo gave him a cross necklace as a present:
Which pales in comparison to what we got him – a set of Archie comic books (hahaha!) – I should have gotten him something related to the event no? He wanted his own laptop but he doesnt stand a chance to owning one until he reached high school (after that he can even have an industrial computer if he wants – I dont want him being an internet addict so soon)
