Martha’s Quotable Quotes

014

Pulled out from my Twitter. Twitter is really micro-blogging at its finest. I swear somebody needs to create an app that will allow me to import personal blog posts and choose twitter favorites so that I can have one diary in print. Consider that my Christmas wish aside from getting the family Blue Cross NC health plans.

Second Best

087

Matthew gave me another proud moment last Friday. We went to his school for the quarterly Parent-Teacher’s Conference and I was pleasantly surprised that he was ranked second in his class, with the first one being the second honor over-all in their batch last school year. (This piece of good news is better than getting the coveted Myrtle beach golf packages golf fanatics are fighting over).

  • I had a nice talk with his adviser and she commented how much Matthew has improved academically and socially. She believes Matthew can go at the top. He would just need more focus and more perseverance.
  • She also told me he would need to control some “attitude” like laughing at his classmates’ mistakes sometimes and correcting his teachers (mwehehehe)
  • I was impressed with their classroom. Well-ventilated, their desks were real study tables and they had their own cubicle for their things. Their were also board games and a list of assignments, good sayings, prayers and their worksheets were neatly stacked. I also would like to commend their directress because she keeps classes at 25 students maximum. Their student enrollment had grown this year but instead of cramming students, she opted to have more classrooms built.
  • Matthew needs to work on Sibika the most.
  • And a funny anecdote: His school implements the English Speaking policy at all times (except for Linggo ng Wika). As with usual classrooms, there is an officer (Sgt. At Arms) who lists down noisy students. The officer always lists down Matthew saying, “Matthew speak Tagalog! Matthew speak Tagalog!”. When Matthew told me this, “Mommy, nainis ako sa kanya sabi ko sa kanya, “Anong speak? Spoke! Matthew spoke Tagalog!”. It seems that even the slightest “Ha?” would often result to him being in the list. (And then we find out the officer is the girl who we teased her to during second grade!)

Matthew continues to make us proud – I hope he never changes when it comes to studying hard. His habits are really good!

We love you Mato!

I Am…

I haven’t been around for awhile. I can come up with so many reasons and excuses for it but I realize I owe no one an explanation. I’m not going to try and get caught up anymore because really now, whoever does catch up with life?

I am a work in a progress.

Babies Everywhere.

I always keep saying every year that it’s baby boom year but it is eclipsed by the following year because more people I know get pregnant! Last year, I know at least 10 women who are pregnant and gave birth and this year, the number rose to 15. Is it really baby boom or I’m just at the age where almost everyone I know is busy making babies, being married and all and trying to make use of their eggs before old age hits? :)

I am actually excited because a brand new addition to our family is coming on the 17th – she is going to be my niece and I cannot wait to meet her. Judging from how cute her older brother is and how I adore him, I am sure I will adore his little sister too. I love babies, especially if I only get to play with them and smell them and just return them to their mommies when they poo and cry.

I also love baby stuff. I guess nothing is more exciting than shopping for the baby. Baby Bedding Sets are just one of the many things parents mull over – and most linens and clothes are hand washed and ironed before the baby comes!

Staying at home while keeping a job isn’t as easy as it seems. I get to save on money with transportation but time management is something I am struggling with, especially since we don’t have a maid. There really isn’t enough time for me to be able to work, take care of a kid who stays at home all day, cook, and even rest. That’s why I would not even blink an eye if ever a residential cleaning service would charge that much. A clean home without me involved with the cleaning is worth it!

Merry Maids is a professional cleaning company long established since 1979. Their corporate office is located in Memphis, Tennessee and is the largest home cleaning franchise network in the world!

Have you watched the movie Sunshine Cleaning? A single mother who needs to enroll his son in a special school works overtime as a cleaning lady and then branches out to cleaning crime scenes – and succeeds! Watch it! It really is enlightening.

Martha Lately.

  • I’ve got my little excited helper on the house. She knows how to set the table and even wash the dishes. (Kaya di ko malabas labas ang Corelle ko, mababasag!)
  • She is becoming more interested in coloring and drawing lately. It is still a far cry from her big brother’s creativity but it is a start.
  • She loves to sing. She sings by herself, almost often out of tune *like me, ehem* and would dance a lot. She immediately stops when she catches me looking. Darn shy girl.
  • And I’d like to share something that happened a couple of days ago:

Martha is becoming more and more sexy lately. She has shapely legs and cute butt to boot. When we were watching TV, I playfully made kagat her pwet and she cried. Hahaha. After that, she returned to watching TV and then turned to me with the fingers waving:

”Mom you stop kagatin the pwet na me ha, sakit un!”

Moving Around.

Growing up, we moved around as a family a total of six times. When I got married, we moved twice in a year. That makes my experience at moving house total eight times. I’ve always wanted to have a house of my own, where I will let my children grow their roots so to speak. I hope their roots will be where we are staying at because I would love for them to grow up simple and God-fearing kids.

I don’t know when our dreams of having our own home will materialize but I certainly have more experience and hopefully, more wisdom with regards to moving places. That means packing and unpacking boxes and boxes of things. One of the biggest lessons I’ve got from moving around a lot is that clutter goes with you if you don’t throw or give stuff away. Keep only the essentials. AND before anything else, unpack within the week of moving in or else those things will stay in their boxes up until the next move.

One of the things I am frustrated though is there are no reputable moving companies here unlike the famous Boston Moving Company Humboldt Services. From packing your boxes, insuring everything gets to the new place safely and unloading your things, they got it covered!
