Saturday 9: Heatwave

1. It’s July. How has the weather been where you are?
It’s been raining non-stop since April – a first in our very tropical country.

2. What is the best way for you to beat the heat?
Take a bath and drink everything iced. Do not exert yourself too much – that means buying dog ramps for your pets so you won’t have to carry them into the car, if needed!

3. “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.” Do you buy that?
Yes, we live in a very humid country. Perspiring can be very very draining. You feel like an ice cream melting under the sun.

4. Do you like hot tubs or saunas?
Saunas. I’m not a big fan of jacuzzis.

5. What’s the hottest you’ve ever been?
I think the summer of last year was the worst.

6. How many times do you hit the beach in the summer?
Unfortunately, we are not beach-goers. More of pool lovers.

7. When you were a kid, what did you do in the summer?
We always have a vacation with my paternal cousins and stay in an aunt’s house.

8. Surfing. Have you ever gotten on a surfboard? Body surf?
No, unfortunately. I would love to try it though.

9. What’s your favorite summer song?
50 Dates the Movie Soundtrack.

Questions of the Week #54

Yen is back!

1. How have you been?

I have been extremely busy lately but I don’t want to complain as I see it as blessings! I am trying to save for some things but home insurance is not one of them – we need to buy a lot first :D

2. What do you wish you knew more about?

I wish I knew more about life and trying to live simply.

3. Is there a luxury item/indulgence that you would like to have, but just could not justify the expense?

A designer bag – Gucci!

4. Is it easier for you to forgive yourself or to forgive others?

I find it easier to forgive myself. I love myself that way.

5. How do you get your daily energy fix?

Iced coffee – instant Nescafe 3-in-1 and ice cubes :)

6. Have you ever found a method of chopping onions without shedding tears? Tell us about it!

Get the old onions. You won’t shed tears but they are not as tasty.

7. How many different countries have you visited?

Just one – the US.

8. Did you choose your life or did your life choose you?

A combination of both.

9. How do you prevent hypocrisy?

By steering clear of things that I am bound to not like. If I do not like something, I tend to be brutally honest so I hurt people’s feelings. I just stay away and shut up.

10. Have you ever loved anyone who didn’t loved you back?

Yes.

Christening Parties

Baptism Religious Invitations

I know three people who are expecting and will be delivering this year. I also know for a fact they are bent on having their child’s baptism six to eight weeks after delivering so it’s going to be a long shot trying to plan for a grand after celebration after the baptism – with a newborn and trying to recover the delivery. That is why, as soon as they hit 38 weeks, they will be booking suppliers for the baptismal party already. Custom Baptism Invitations are going to be ordered online, through Express-Invitations.com, because they have very fast delivery. They would give you the proof of your chosen invite an hour or so after you have decided and once you approve the proof by e-mail, they print and ship it within the same day!

Wednesday Happy ThoughtsHappiness is…

1. Meeting monthly earnings quota in two weeks. I pray this is a starting trend for the months to come.

2. Chicken sopas with milk and adobong baboy – mmmmm, yummmy.

3. Nescafe iced coffee. Anything iced even if it is icy cold today.

4. My cute little girl sounding like a Korean when she is starking mad not getting what she wants. Gosh I need to try and record that. Today she yelled at me with a Korean accent, “Mom, galit me sa yo, you iwan me, no iwan me. Martha sama you. Ha?” Bwahahaha, I am still laughing just writing that. I would need a whole life insurance for that girl – that girl can crack me up and I would literally die laughing.

5. My daughter getting OK each passing day – even gaining weight. She says “Mom, I hungry” in her best 101 Dalmation voice (remember a pup there says, “Mom, Im hungry, I am” all the time?) at least 25 times. As if she hasn’t eaten five minutes before.

6. Edil and I surviving in a one PC household. It is a miracle. A miracle I tell you – it is a testament of our stand and promise to stay committed in marriage (I’m serious – we are computer hogs!)

7.Creativity mojo at its peak. Now please give me extra hours or NOT let me sleep and still survive so I can finish.

8. Tenkyumanin. In lilac. Which I still insist is the PINK one. The pink one they are advertising is FUSCHIA BUBBLEGUM pink.

9. Blessing coming in the smallest and most unexpected forms.

10. Feeling God’s presence. And hearing Him again. Before it was like hearing through a thick wall. I hope mine has come down.

All About Glasses

image I am wearing eyeglasses right now. No, they are not prescription glasses but ant-glare ones for protection for my eyes since I am in front of the computer all the time. Two weeks ago, I had the most terrible eye strain and migraine ever and I was worried about my eyes. Thankfully, an optometrist friend gave me a pair for free. Otherwise, I’d buying the $ 8 Rx eyeglasses from ZenniOptical.com. I am thinking of getting the Edil and the big brother a pair too since I saw how great the deals on the site are. I even saw Zenni Optical on TV!!!

Since they are pretty cheap, I need not worry my son breaking his glasses or misplacing them since I can easily replace them. So, High Five to Zenni Optical – great job on offering quality yet affordable glasses for us!

Our Weekend

  • Steroids. Nebulizers. Salbutamol (Ventolin). That pretty sums up what our weekend was. Martha had an attack and we closely had to monitor her or else we might end up in the hospital. It was a good thing she stabilized but we are still on neb till Saturday. Talk about stressful. I probably need the best wrinkle creams for myself with all the stress and trials that has been coming my way lately.
  • We had the big brother on Salbutamol too. I realized his cough, because it hasn’t gone away with antibiotics, might be asthma too.
  • The caregiver got sick too. I now have the colds and cough and feel blah. Good thing I’m old enough to force myself to eat (as if I need forcing? Heehee) and that I take medicines – vitamins actually, 1500mg Vitamin C.
  • Cold cold cold weekend. Grey skies. Wet roads. Mud.
  • Our “hummer” is battery weak. We need to get it fixed. The expenses neeeeeeever ends. I’m still thankful though we get by.
  • I treated myself on Saturday to something I have been wanting since college. It’s a steal as well :D . I have been working myself to the ground so I deserve this. Please erase my Mommy guilt away :)

It has been three weeks since G, my laptop, got sick and needed to be sent to the repair center. She wasn’t turning on (no display) even if the lights were blinking. An initial diagnosis made by the technician was motherboard failure. We were already told it will take 3 to 4 weeks for it to be repaired and the cost, if the diagnosis is correct, will be anywhere from $200-$300. (Yes, I might as well get a new one, right?) I don’t want to give up on my laptop because of sentimental reasons. It is the first laptop I have bought with my money from writing and she was really with me (literally) when I was working so hard. But I do realize I need a desktop computer, given how long I work in front of a computer. There are great deals right now, I just wish we had a credit card to buy one. There are great deals on packages with 0% interest for 12 months. I can always apply online for best credit cards – but I really don’t want one anymore.

You need to find a credit card that works best for you. For example, if you do groceries a lot and charge it to your card, you can get one that has bonus points for shopping. Or if you use it for gas, you can sign up for a card that offers rebates or discounts on petroleum. If you have multiple cards and want to consolidate them into one, you can get a card that has a zero balance transfer rate so it will be easier to pay and monitor your expenses.

I’m going to think about this until the end of the month and make my decision. I need to have at least 30% of the total payment as well.

Happy Monday!

I blogged before about Martha having her own version of Mary Had a Little Lamb. I tried to capture it on video last night but she was so giggly and high (forgive me – she is on steroids, hehe) that she wasn’t able to finish it.

More videos to come.
Do you know the theme song of Tarzan? :)
