I noticed I rarely blog about my first child anymore. I think him being almost 9 and and having a world of his own is a big part of it.

Every time we encounter temper tantrums from Matthew lately, me and Edil just exchange glances and conclude one thing: Nagbibinata na anak namin.

He now knows how to make dabog and make faces when he doesn’t want to do some thing. And right now, he says and makes puna whatever we are doing wrong.

While for me it is an issue of control – I admit I can be a controlling mother – I love how my son, despite of his parents’ weaknesses and faults, is growing up to be a very good child.

He prefers to watch anime cartoons all day. He has his own schedule, makes sure his shoes are shined, uniform and everything else are laid out for the next day, and I don’t even have to remind him to do his assignments. Instead, he follows up on ME on the things I need to do (Mommy, make sure me labels lahat ng gamit ko ha) and even plans out what his snacks and lunch meals are for the week. Ako na dapat ang magfollow.

Recently, I had to to a check on myself why I get angry with Matthew on the littlest things, you know, the little things na hindi agad nasusunod kasi unreasonable. Nung isang araw, Matthew wanted to be the one to write his name on all of his books. And of course me being the OC mom refused. Which ended up in a fight. Then he told me, the Mommy, to wake him up at 5AM. I woke him at quarter to six because hello, why would he need to wake up at 5 when the bus wont arrive until quarter to seven? He was so angry because *I* messed up his schedule.

Naalala ko ganyan din ako nung bata. When I was 9 I covered all my books and did label them all. Syempre di alam ng mga magulang ko kasi we had a yaya. The yaya of course was just all too happy to be freed of work. It gave me such a sense of control when I did that.

So ang ending, kahit pangit ang sulat, sige na nga, pabayaan na natin si Kuya Mato. :)
