Should I be worried that Martha struggles with pronouncing even at three? My memories of speech development with my son (who is turning 9 this year) is quite hazy but I think he is very eloquent (and an English speaker to boot) at 2 years.
Right now, my mother claims only I can understand my daughter clearly (she does understand bits and pieces of her sentences so she grasps what she is saying) – so she tells me to have her checked. While I might consider having her checked, I do worry that when she goes to school next month, her teacher might have a hard time understanding her! And since I am limited to where I will enroll her this schoolyear – our area has few good schools, it makes me worry. What do YOU think?
If only I know how to drive, I wouldn’t mind traveling two hours a day to get her to a school I’d want her in. (Tuition fee talk aside).
Anyhow, I know I shouldn’t be worried at all – her speech maybe a bit delayed but I guess ganun talaga pag ung ibang aspects advanced or right on track naman. I just want to make sure Im doing everything I can to actually make sure she is right on track with everything.
So more quotable quotes!
(Some are from Twitter)
- Matthew and Martha were playing horsey horsey and after she horsey-ed her Kuya, she yelled at him: “Horse Me! Horse Me!” (She wanted her brother to go ride on her back)
- Martha, when she wants to watch Madagascar the movie would tell me, “Mom, watch I Like to Mobey Mobey!” (From the song, I like to move it, move it!)
- Martha played with her brother’s mask from art school: “Look Mom, Is a Mess!” (It’s a mask!)
- After eating with her hands, “Mom, wash the fing-gels.” (Nagulat ako dati ganito sya, “Mom, wash hands please.” Ngaun, wash the fing-gels na”

- Genie in the Lamp – Genie and La Lamp
- Have you heard the songs from Tarzan? She sings, “You’ll Be in My Heart” quite well and the other that goes “Two words – One Family” only for her it goes, “Two words – La Pamilee!”
- When we watch Madagascar, she still doesn’t know the characters by name so when Melman is taken to the volcano, she asks, “Who’s that Mom?” I answer, “Melman” She laughs like I make a silly mistake and then says, “No, Di-raf yan Di-raf”
- Snow White is said as “Nu-wyt”
- Nasobrahan ata sa Disney anak ko
