I don’t consider myself a techie person (or even a geek). I consider myself as someone who just wants gadgets to make things easier for me
. Ever since I started scrapbooking I got more aware of gadgets that would make things easier for me to capture (like the dSLR camera), to create (like a fast and built computer) and design (a Wacom tablet). It also involved hundreds of gigabytes of files and pictures and everything else.
For the five years I have spent as technical support in a registrar and web hosting company, I never was interested to learn more than what is just required for me to learn to be able to support customers who call in. I know how to set up a blog, troubleshoot databases and report MySQL problems but all these are limited to what are the application inside the web hosting company I work for. So when I resigned from work and lost free access and privileges to web hosting accounts, consider my lost and didn’t know what to do. A Managed File Transfer solution has been discussed before I leave and it can transfer EDI, XML, financial data and other sensitive business information. That will be too complicated for me to talk about but that is the last techie thing I have learned ever since.
