Archives for February, 2009

I’m sorry for not updating as often as I should. The past two weeks were hell for me. Teeth pain is worse than giving birth I swear. I have been on painkillers for most part of the two weeks and I’ve come to certain realizations:
1. Ponstan is better than Dolfenal. Promise.
2. Teeth pain can turn you into a monster.
I have been very very irritable, more than when I was pregnant! The kids know better than to order me around with pleas for “Mommy, will you cook pancit canton?” at 8PM because the pain worsens at night. By 6PM I’m already in bed, drugged with pain relievers.
I went to the dentist yesterday and it was both good news and bad news. Good news: My wisdom teeth have finally erupted to taking them out would cost me the normal extraction for molars. Yey! Bad news: The dentist suspects the real pain is coming from my upper molar which has a filling. It has chipped off somewhat and when she percusses it, it is painful. The solution would be a root canal – which is of course, more expensive than extracting wisdom teeth, impacted or not. However, I’d be more willing to come back every other day (She said with root canals, they need to drain the abscess so every other day is the appointment) than to have this one taken out – I’d still like a good set of teeth until I turn 40 (if I can swing it until I am 50, that would be awesome!) thank you very much.
So next week will be all about dental appointments. I’m on antibiotics now – so Tuesday or Wednesday I go for a temporary filling, Friday or Saturday with the meds kicking in, I can actually get these wisdom teeth from hell removed.

I came upon these Cocktail Dresses and cant help but remember the 50s.
Of course, one would notice that fashion (especially those that are classic and timeless) just recycles itself and comes back after a few years. However, these pieces are very true to form – in the 50’s. All these can be found in StopStaringClothing.com and I have a few dresses in my wish list because of it. (Given I can lose half my body weight!)
This one is on my to-wear dress if ever I can get back to my old form:
And this one qualifies for the LBD – little black dress:
If there is a little black dress, of course there is a classic piece in RED!
I cant help but remember I Love Lucy when I look at these swing dresses:
I actually love the black polkadot dress. I feel very very into the 50s whenever I see that dress. Polkas are classic pieces too if the polkas are designed in a way that enhances the style of the dress (and the wearer of the dress of course! The red dress reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Dirty Dancing 2 (Havana Nights).

(Trying to catch up on blogging personally again – it is hard)
We were at SM last week to buy a shirt for Matthew’s photoshoot. It went well, after three hours and countless shirt tries at the dressing room, we had the perfect shirt. I was paying at the cashier when Martha saw the bear offered for SM Rewards point users. And of course she wouldn’t let it go. I was really firm not to buy it for her but she has her own ways of convincing.
Edil: Martha, gusto mo ba yan? Ano name ni Bear?
Martha: DADDY Bear!! Martha love Daddy Bear.
O diba sepsep, ako naman nagbayad.

- He is blogging now too, alongside Edil. He wants to blog everyday but we moderate his entries syempre. See his entries here and here.
- He is getting the hand of playing basketball. His Dad and him are getting into the habit of playing basketball every afternoon three to four times a week.
-
He entered a singing competition all by himself come his school’s Foundation Day. He also signed up for the Spelling Bee – and get this, he signed ME up for the parents’ competition “Kakasa ka ba sa Grade 6?” Better that than the cooking competition.
-
He is candidate for the school’s Mr & Miss in the next two weeks. And syempre, stage mommy ako. I even went to their photoshoot (daig ko pa mga mommies ng nursery, sila wala ako andun hehehe). Gwapo ng anak ko no?

Have you heard of the blue lotus? It is a derivative of the kratom leaves. Kratom is grown widely in Indonesia for the dried herb trade. In Southeast Asia the fresh leaves are usually chewed, often continuously, by workers or manual laborers seeking a numbing, stimulating effect. Less commonly, the leaves are decocted or extracted into water and then evaporated into a tar that can be swallowed. Kratom is not often smoked, although this method does provide some effect.
Thailand is a Southeast Asian, predominantly Buddhist kingdom almost smack dab in-between India and China. For centuries it was known by outsiders as Siam, and Thailand has been something of a Southeast Asian crossroads. It is here where we find accounts of the earliest stories of chewing kratom to help one get through their work day.

So my first wishlist was really WISHING, but this part I think I can swing
And no, I’m not going to be asking for Oakley watches
1. Eat out at CPK, Balinsasayaw (in Silang Cavite) & Pancake House (mababaw lang ako eh)
2. Cake. Since I’m 28 – I’d want 28 slices of different cakes or 28 different pastries (Hahaha!)
3. Starbucks GCs. So that I can tell Edil to drop by Starbucks after going to mass every Sunday and when he tells me off saying we have no money I can brush him off, “Hello?! Libre! Bilis! Vamanos! (gagayahin ko si Marts!)
4. I want multi-colored pens and notebooks. And yes, di ako nagsesecond childhood.
5. Spa. Spa. Spa. From head to foot.
6. 12 hours of straight deep sleep. Kelangan ko ata ng Valium nito.
7. 24 hours of me time – I can scrap all day.
8. One week of NOT doing the dishes. Seryoso ako dito.
9. Someone who can come by 4:30AM to help prepare Matthew for school. Seryoso din ako dito. Kung pwede forever, pwede din.
10. GCs for manis and pedis for a whole year. I have manicurista here who can do both for 100 a pop. I often wonder why I cant spare 100 a week, LOL.

In 10 days anyways
I’m turning 28. WOW, 28! I originally wanted to blog 28 things about me for each day of February but the whole month has passed and I haven’t done anything yet. So let me do something for fun and list my birthday wishlist. Some are out of this world impossible to get for now but who cares? If you are dreaming, might as well dream big! I have dreamed of owning my own SLR, laptop, camcorder, Coach bag, and MyBook EHD for years and look what it has gotten me – I HAVE THEM already
Now what would a woman like me who is close to 30 want other than jewelry? Definitely not me
1. Our own house and lot. We are only just renting for less than a year and I’m sick of paying rent already. (Even if our rent is so dirt cheap. LOL)
2. Our own car. I’d prefer a SUV. I want something like the RevO or Crosswind. Something to pack our house into when we go to Manila (we pack a lot of stuff). My kids also have a habit of falling asleep while on the road (Esp. Mato – masandal lang un saglit, tulog na agad eh), so a wide space for the car will be great.
3. Our house expenses in cold cash for a year. I’d settle for six. That way, I can actually just relax and concentrate on studying for my NCLEX, which is taking tooo long to materialize.
4. Health for my family. I’d rather have healthy kids and a healthy (smoke-free) husband than number 3. Just saying. Give me good health (which translates to XXX pounds lost) and I can forget about numbers 1-3.
5. My own workstation. This has been a forever and ever dream ever since we moved out on our own. Maybe by the end of the month I can swing one – kahit na desk lang.
6. In relation to number 5, I discovered PinoyIKEA through Mai, a Twitter Bebot friend and I fell in love – with the items and the price. Their prices don’t fall too behind the IKEA prices overseas so this is >3.
I’ve listed so many things on my wishlist
But this is on top of my wishlist – as in very top in IKEA dream-wanna-be-mine.
7. Frames
8. A Starbucks mug. With coaster.
9. Completely unreasonable but I’m crushing on the Dell Mini. Or a super mega ultra fast desktop.
10. Designer bag – LV Neverfull GM (kaa nga in my dreams LOL)
More to come
