Third Wedding Anniversary : Leather, Crystal, Pearl or Jade, Fuschia Flower, the Colors White or Jade Green.

The husband, instead, gave me rubbershoes and a wireless router. Practical stuff I really need.

Rubbershoes because I cannot use the treadmill without it.

Wireless router because I need to be have the laptop glued beside me to earn more money.

Practical stuff. And Im happy!

Boo. Anime. Marthita.

Agnes calls her Boo these days especially when her hair is in pigtails. I call her my little Koreana, because I really want her bangs to be cutely uneven (if ever there was a term).

Yes, I cut her bangs. (Last June 26, 2008 - for scrapping purposes).
And she didnt even budge. I told her, “Marts, let’s get pretty ha!” And she stayed still :D

My Dad now has another hobby - downloading music and movies from the web. My husband told him about the site where he can download music and from there he was hooked. He even thought about upgrading his subscription (as you know, his music ranges from the 50s to the 70s so selection for a free account will be limited) and now wants to have an external hard disk for his music files (There are plenty!). Now, he discovered movies and he is more hooked.

He now wants to upgrade his laptop. It’s an old Toshiba model but has served him well because it has been around for years (It was a hand me down from a relative in fact). He wants to upgrade the memory most of all so he can run applications. I told him it will be better if he buys a new one in the US (or asks for a hand me down again :)). Edil explained to him some of the features he needed to consider in buying a laptop. He referred him to a laptop buying guide.

So he decided he wants big hard disk space, enough memory and a good video card (because he would really want to watch movies a lot). A speaker will be a great accessory. I told him we can go with a Dell laptop anytime - my cousin is also a fan of Dell laptops. He has been through a lot of top pc laptop brands - HP, Toshiba, Acer - but only Dell satisfied him (and he uses the laptop for his online business!).

Of course, my sister who is into design and graphic arts would be voting for a MAC. On the graphic design side, wherein there will be a choice between pc vs mac laptops, the MAC wins. Id love to go into the dark side too, but for now, Im still in love with G, my Dell Inspiron 1525 :)

Curls and Straight Hair.

We had such a good weekend! We spent most part of it outside the house as the maids took the weekend off and will be back tonight. And I think I ate too many from the weekend as well, all due to my mom’s cooking :)

We went to my parents yesterday (even my sibs from Manila) because Mommy cooked steak and spaghetti (we are really pasta lovers!) and made salad and potato balls. Just thinking about all I ate makes me sick (but wouldnt keep from eating again, of course :P)

So we talked about hair, good topic I know :) I was born with curls and then had straight hair, my brother was born with straight hair that curled, Abbie has always been curly and Agnes has always been straight. So if you know biology, we have two hybrids and two purebreds (no, Im not talking about dogs here :P).

Which led us to the talk of flat irons. Abbie has only recently embraced and loved her curls but still uses a flat iron to straighten out the upper half so it will look good. It was her biggest vanity splurge because she bought the ceramic plates that can work even with wet hair. My mom and brother loves to iron their hair too. I think only me and Agnes can do away with finger brushing ours (but mine would still be buhaghag).

There is a website - http://www.misikko.com - that sells flat irons, ceramic ones at that, and even hair curlers! Remember when I wanted to curl my hair? Well, that’s beside the point already. Their shipping deals are enticing and they have free deals as well - you can’t beat that.

Our family has gone through a lot of flat irons, around four or five I think. All of them were brought in the US and Im hoping this current one stays alive!

Status: Uber Busy

The maids are going to take the weekend off and Im going to be left alone with the princess in this big house the rest of the day. Let us hope the husband comes home early because we cant go to my parents as they are in Lucena as well.

Until then, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
Pray that I do not lose my mind or let Martha do the cooking herself. Hehehe.

Aggie Wants to Know #1

Aggie Wants to Know!

Topic No. 1: Life After the Wedding - the Married Life.

What are the things you want them to know about life after the wedding?

(Serious naman tyo this week, next week na yung kwela!)

We celebrated three years of married life last Tuesday. We weren’t together. We didn’t celebrate. (In fact, he really forgot about it!!! Isang mortal sin! LOL) He left a comment on my blog post, but heck, too late, diba?

And as I’ve said:

We celebrate three years of married life today. And while I cannot really say it has been three years of wedded bliss, I would not have it any other way.

What really is life after the wedding? The marriage part. The married life.
What are the things you would like to tell women who like to get married? To be honest, I was so caught up in wedding preparations and envisioning my “dream wedding” to be able to envision (and prepare) for life after the wedding.

The first year was a NIGHTMARE! I wanted out, and felt like I married a stranger (sounds familiar, anybody?). Parang gusto kong iluwa yung sinabi ko nung speech namin, “We promise you, we will make this marriage work.” But then, thanks to the sandamakmak ng guidance from our parents, their prayers and their occasional referee-ing, we are now OK. Far from GOOD, but we are obviously way better than before.

So….
If Martha is to marry, Id expore her to hardcore real-life marriage facts.
1. Marriage is no fairytale. It doesnt really end with happily ever after. You work for your happy endings (the two of you).
2. You get married not to make you whole. You enter it as a whole person already. (same as with relationships) Two whole persons get united, and they become A third person - that’s the married couple.
3. As with Number 2, you are your own person. Never cease to grow ON YOUR OWN.
4. Make time for each other, especially when kids arrive.

And this may get personal, you know, but what the heck:

Feeling: Accomplished!

Aggie Wants to Know!

See a new page and a button on my sidebar? Yes! I finally did it.

I want to give myself a pat in the back because this concept has taken me FOREVER to implement. Blame it on real life, procastination and plain old katamaran :)

I just hope this will be as well-received as my first two tags. (Big G tells me my most searched keywords are Gong Yoo and Diether Ocampo, go figure!) But honestly though, it has been fun to go around blogs seeing their answers. I hope I can give you guys some things to laugh about, know more about, and maybe, learn from as well.

OK. Tama na ang segue.
Off to do the first official tag :D

Cars and Fuel

Sorry I cant help but gush about high fuel prices — Edil and I were talking about that last night, and Edil was telling me that diesel will even go up as high as 65pesos, that is just too much! I hope the worldwide crisis will end soon - even rice prices are going up. Even maintenance of our car is going to be a huge problem. It’s a good thing that in the US there is midwest auto recycling which specializes in used engines and transmissions and has one of the strongest warranty nation wide. All miles are CARFAX verified. All ENGINES come as a complete assembly. They are started, inspected for compression, cylinder leak down tested, checked for oil pressure and cleaned. ALL TRANSMISSIONS are test driven, visually inspected and cleaned.

Hi and Lo.

Martha
Hi: Coming home from the grocery with two slippers (buy one take one for 120bucks) for her and seeing her face light up and her mouth saying “WOW!” when she saw it. She didnt take it off all night. (Martha likes big shoes and big slippers - not the toddler kind anymore with straps at the back - she got her wish - picture coming soon. She looks so Aling Martha!)

Lo: Martha wanting to sleep on her own. Yes. You read it right. She doesnt want to be cuddled for the past week to sleep. She just wants her dede and when you lay down beside her, she will say, “Alis.” She sleeps on her own now, on her own time as well. It’s driving me crazy. Since Monday, she sleeps at 12MN (she watches movies herself) and then wakes up at 10AM. She doesnt nap ALL day until 5PM when she just asks for dede and boink - tulog. At night, when I put off the lights and go to bed with the hopes of cajoling her to bed - she screams and says, “Mommy, puter lang, puter” — because the TV is near the puter.

Matthew
Hi: Matthew gaining neighbor friends! We found out his classmate lives at the house in front of us and for three straight days, they have been playing after studying. A friend of theirs remarked, “Si Mato maputi at di kalbo, tyong lahat kalbo at maitim!” He tells me that and I tell him, “It’s OK to be different. Pogi ka naman eh.” Hehehe.

Lo: Matthew losing his speech foam in class (within hours of buying it). I swear, my son is vain and maayos when it comes to HIMSELF, but with his stuff, OMG! He makes ayos his clothes and uniform in his room the night before, with his toiletries (cologne, powder and lotion) aside. But he always forgets where he put his pencils or things.

Martha is the opposite — she is very maimis. She puts back her toys, aligns her shoes, pushes back her high chair after eating to the wall - but couldnt care less if she puts on lotion after taking a bath. Baligtad.

Disheartened.

I’m a bit disheartened today as I found about something that might affect us in a way. And before you think about anything else — it is really something work-related :)

The Big Man is trying to tell me something but poor me, not used to listening anymore, cannot (for the life of me), figure it out.

July na pala next week.
Kaya pala.

War Games

Edil wants to try playing paintball. Paintball is a war game that is safe because instead of real guns they use electric airsoft rifles. They are even in full battle gear. I have no apprehensions about it other than the fact that the place where he can play paintball is so far away from home - talk about south to north! It would be a good way for him to unwind with friends because of its physical activity though. It is better than them hanging out and drinking all the time. Let us see if we can find ways to fit in the schedule and budget. Gas is awfully high these days.
