Ever wanted to do a search for Britney Spears? I have to admit, even if the star has been controversial lately, I still love her music. And well, I love making sure I am updated with everything she does and gets involved with. Her latest single, “Gimme More”, is actually on my mp3 playlist for weeks now
I just did one through Spock.com. It is not your usual social marketing web site where you can find friends, build networks and search for people. What is better about
Spock is that you can find people by category or keyword or location. For example, I can actually look for Filipina nurses and I can actually find people! You can further specify your search by location – “Filipina nurses in California” and you will further minimize your results.
You just need to create your tags which would serve as your keywords as well. For example, for my profile, I can tag myself as a Filipina nurse, a breastfeeding advocate and a digital scrapbooker. When my profile goes up and people see it, they have the ability to add more tags for you, this includes that pictures you post. Sounds scary? Dont worry, they have the Trust Network which will allow you to conduct safe searches (and guarantee your tags are within safe searches as well). Though they are not like MySpace where you can send messages and comments, they are synced in to other people’s location in the web (they need to put that in) like their blogs, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc. so you can contact and find them somewhere else to leave a message too.
Since I love Hollywood Celebrities, I did a search on it at Spock.com. It can further be specified by these tags – ‘likes celebrities’, ‘likes Hollywood’, and whether you want them ’straight’!
Isnt that fun or what? I suggest you sign up and try it out. You will be amazed how much you search through Spock.com!
