My Water Loo.

My weakness in housekeeping and home duties is cooking. I really do not know how to cook. Sure, I know how to fry and cook simple dishes - my family wouldn’t really starve to death. But I haven’t really cooked anything that earned me compliments from my family, except for spaghetti - which I learned from my Mom. It’s an old tradition where we cook the sauce with all purpose cream and Worcheister sauce. My kids love it. But I still need to learn how to cook Edil’s favorite dishes. While I was randomly surfing Myspace, I came across this page: http://www.myspace.com/westernculinary. It seems like a very laidback but full of concepts type of school - they even have feedback about Top Chef!

Zen Habits

This site can easily be my most favorite site ever! It has different motivational posts ever day!

Monday: Productivity and Organization
Tuesday: Finance and Family
Wednesday: Simplicity
Thursday: Happiness
Friday: Health

I love that they have different topics to feature but are still organized for people to read them easily (and find them too!) Make sure you come back here to share what topics you like best. Ill be featuring them more in my blog too!

I want a MAC!

My cousin recently just purchased a MAC book. Somehow, my aunt knew someone who is a MAC distributor and retailer from Singapore so they were able to get a lesser price (as compared to retail stores). I’d love to get a MAC - that would be perfect for graphic arts and design. Agnes told me all the labs for Fine Arts in UST use MAC computers already - they just could not compare with any other. She even told me that mac games are enjoyable too. You can download them and play as long as you would like!

That was FAST!

Hey!

Im up again ;) You might not have noticed, but I changed hosts - which means, my comments are now working (again), and this time, it will never be done (we hope! LOL)! Thank you Amore of Yani Hosting! If you need a very dedicated webmaster with personalized customer service, contact her!

You would not regret it :).

Now, Im off to change my home’s look.

Bagong bihis tyo bukas ;), in time for October!

Not in the Mood.

For everything.

Not in the mood to work, scrap, blog, even eat ;).

The changing weather is the culprit.

The only thing Im up for is watching Marimar ;).

Oh, I will be scarce this weekend. Hopefully, by Monday you will know why :)
Have a great weekend!

Insuring our Assets.

A friend is busy planning her wedding and building the house they are going to move into after they get married. Needless to say, their expenses are a bit high right now so they are planning to trim down on a lot of things. They just could not pass up a cheap car insurance offer they were presented with. They have two cars, one of which is still relatively new. So, they need to make sure insurance has covered their cars since they would not have any spare money just in case of emergency. They also have been maintaining payments for their life insurance policy. Once they have their house finished, they are most likely to get home insurance for it too. They believe in investing their money and securing their assets that way.

Update on the Unlucky Duck.

The “Good” Samaritan turned bad and did not return the phone. Edil is still bummed about the lost SIM card. However, since he worked at SMART before, he can have the same number again even if it is a prepaid SIM. (We have very nice phone number, 99-99 ;)).

A good officemate offered to let him buy a N6600, which is better than nothing, and it was offered at such a steal so no worries.

Lesson of the day: Never invest on such expensive phones - they are very prone to stealing and accidental losing.

Clutter.

We are not without one maid for close to a month now. And with me and Edil both working full time, a grade schooler and a toddler, the house is a total mess. Clothes are washed weekly, folded hastily and ironed when we are just about to use it. We also did not require our maid to do anything except to feed and take care of Martha while we are away since Martha alone is a handful already. I really need to take time off work to declutter the house. I need to put away old clothes (in time for the slew of clothes the kids are sure to receive this Christmas, plus it gives me an idea what to get the kids) and have a tool storage for my paper crafts. I really need my own “space” in the house. A shelf will not do! I want a real workstation for me and me alone!

Unlucky Duck.

Yesterday, Edil lost his P900 :(. It slipped from his pocket when he went down from the jeepney. He called his number and whoever found it replied. He would return it daw. Edil really pleaded to have it returned, even offering payment, because his SIM card was important. We do SMART Money on it and it is connected to a number of prepaid reloaders (We earn a decent amount from it too). Plus, all his contacts at work are there - from the point of view of a person doing sales, losing that vital piece of information is really depressing.

So we hope. We hope that the person would not consider backing out on his word.
By 9PM, Edil’s number was no longer reachable.
And I hoped and prayed tablan ng pagka-Good Samaritan ung tao.

So I guess I need to buy my husband a new phone.(?)

Quotable Quote:

Over dinner, Matthew was being his inquisitive, talkative self. We were talking about synonyms and antonyms (the topic in his Language subject that day) and he asked, “What is immature?”

Immature: childish, isip-bata.

Matthew: “Ah! Parang si Daddy! Immature!” (”Ah! Like Daddy! Immature!”)

I could have died laughing (LOL).

Of course, Edil was red in the face and laughing too :)

BOO.

I hate changing seasons. It means erratic weather, dust and pollen scattered everywhere, which means asthma attacks for the kids, colds every week, and my allergic rhinitis flaring up. This time the colds have hit me bad. I guess I havent been taking care of myself the past few weeks. My head really hurts and for the first time I feel like really hot inside (like my fever has not broken in). So Im overdosing with Vitamin C and will probably sleep in (and not wake up at 4AM). Too bad the kids’ sinuses are acting up - we all have stuffy noses. If only Matthew doesn’t need to go to school, I would have holed them up in Amadeo. I might ask my Mom to get Martha for a week since she has sipon again. I dont want her to have an attack so I want to prevent it from happening. So far, it is controlled with nebulization but as long as she is not taken from the source of allergy (which I believe is her case), she really won’t get well. An aunt told me to get my kids to an allergologist to find out the cause, once and for all. I might need to schedule a one week leave from the office then. She told me it’s going to be done every day.

Meanwhile, I need to get better myself.

Want Dogs?

I am outnumbered in the family. Edil and Matthew have long wanted dogs to keep as pets. If it weren’t for the lack of space in our house, we would have had one a long time ago. And we are not talking about cute, small dogs here. We are talking about big dogs. Since I have been deathly scared of dogs because I was bitten when I was a kid, I loved watching Beethoven the movie. So you can guess what I want for a dog, if ever - English bulldogs.

english-bulldog.jpgIsn’t it cute? Their paws grow to be as big as saucers, but I don’t care. We are a big family anyway :) I read somewhere that if you are looking for English bulldog puppy breeders, Salt Creek Kennel is a great source. The dogs are not just raised as breeders but as part of a loving home 20 miles east of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Arent those cute puppies adorable?

Marimar Love :)

So I was tagged by Yen and she wanted to see how my desktop looks like :)
IMG_8768 copy

I wasn’t able to a screenshot since I’m at the office. I don’t want to share my desktop here since it is packed with shortcuts to excel files. LOL. As you can see, our wallpaper is Marimar :D. LOL. I love watching the show (it just got moved to a later timeslot so I need to adjust my schedule as well, hahaha). Martha loves it too. The icons are shortcuts to various files, folders and programs between me, Edil and Matthew. We are a very busy family dependent too much on the PC for recreation (sad but true, LOL).

So you can guess why I would love to have my own S.O.O.N!

Network Management.

Our IT Department is under fire these days. Our system has been down and out for most days last week and with the kind of our business, this is unacceptable. With the launch of 2 locations outside Manila, the need for a big, reliable and dependable Network Monitoring management solution is imperative. Uplogix provides that solution. It is nice that if ever one network goes downs, administrators can quickly do recovery without having to be physically there on the server location.
