Hormone Replacement Therapy

My mom has been having a hard time with menopause these days - palpitations, high blood pressure, hot flushes and migraines. I have advised her to try and seek medical advice from her OB-gyne and ask if she can have Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) - when a woman goes through menopause, her body lacks a very vital hormone called progesterone. It helps the body prepare for conception, pregnancy, regulates menstrual cycles and plays a role in sexual desire. High progesterone levels are believed to be partly responsible for symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as breast tenderness, feeling bloated and mood swings. When you skip a period, it could be because of failure to ovulate and subsequent low progesterone levels.
