Be Prepared.

My life changed when news about tsunamis, earthquakes and super typhoons have been hitting random places one by one. It seems time are hard lately and we never know what to expect. Though we can never be prepared for natural calamities, it is still imperative that we try to be prepared as much as we can. Disaster Kits can help us. An emergency pack needs to have: lights and power communications, first aid kit, tool, supplies for food and water, protection and personal items. I need to discuss this with Edil so we can orient the people in the household what to prepare and what needs to be done once an emergency strikes.

At least for a day, is good to me. I finally had the chance to wake up at 10:30 in the morning, stretch myself for a bit, stare at the ceiling for 15 minutes, planned my day in my head. I also got to eat breakfast in peace. This is opposed to waking up to a baby slapping your face shouting, “Ma ma! Ma ma!” telling you to wake up. Going downstairs being stuck to watching Disney cartoons while standing up now and then to get kids what they want -

“Mato, what do you want to eat?” “Mommy, Cowhead milk.” “Mommy, walang lasa, put sugar.” “Mommy, I dont like egg with bread, hotdog on fork and I bite with bread.” (Meaning nasa fork ung hotdog, tapos may pandesal sa isang kamay, isang kagat sa isa, kagat din sa isa). “NO”

Lately, the kids want to eat HoneyStars cereals for breakfast. It’s actually so sweet to see them together since Matthew feeds Martha and Martha reaches for the bowl, reaches for one cereal most of the time (most of the time she just wants to have her hands in a bowl and make squishy squashy, LOL) and then feeds her brother. Of course Id always hear, “NO!!! Ang kulit mo naman Martha eh!” coupled with a bratty scream, then - “MOMMY! SI MARTHA O!!!”

Ok, did I just write all of that to miss my kids? :(
I miss them already. Edil had a hard time sleeping last night - di daw sya sanay wala mga bata (I slept at 4:30AM!). Mommy texted me earlier saying Martha was an energizer bunny last night - she was “namamahay” and just wanted to play with my Dad. Naku, sana wag na masyado mapuyat ang mga grandparents later, at baka mapaaga uwi nila :).

You must have read my post two days ago regarding an external hard drive mishap of one of my friends which caused me to back up my files to DVDs. Well, since I have more than 15GB of photos and counting with over 50GB of digital kits, you can pretty surmise I spent a whole day just backing things up. I have been thinking of subscribing to IDrive-E Online Backup for a month and they have recent enhancements which had me impressed. First, it is still free up to 2GB, secure and fast. It will appear as an encrypted on my mapped drive for easy restoration too. Now, I can create and manage multiple account via the web interface and now they also launched IDrive-S, a file and folder sharing feature via web!

Slightly better but cough not getting any better. The kids are in Amadeo to be cared for by the grandma and grandpop. I hope they dont give Lola a hard time. Matthew has an entire Pokemon DVD collection to get bored with, a BUGS animal book to read over. The kid lovea animals from dinosaurs, to bugs, to birds. Everytime he asks a question like, “Mommy, what is a dead flying mantis? Or a nightingale? What does it do? What does it eat”, I feel like 22 years of school has not done me any good. Try answering this - “Mom, what is a quetzal?” Matthew got so inis, I had to google one for an answer. Well, a quetzal is a tropical bird in the Central Americas.

So our eyes have not fully recovered yet, morning glory is at its worst, we need to really wipe our eyes every now and then. The flu bug has really caught us hard this week, and to be honest, I am looking forward to waking up late for the next two weeks and sleeping straight without vomiting episodes. Gosh, it is a good thing our washing machine has been repaired. We are changing sheets every night - and we might need to throw out the pillows soon. I think washing it wont do it any good.

I need to fix a few loose ends - buy Matthew’s books, order PE uniforms and school uniforms and open bank account. I also need to get in touch with a dentist for the extraction of my wisdom teeth. The horror!!

I better stop now and start working. I need to get start working on my goals for the week - and surprise! It’s already Thursday!

Ohio Lemon Law

Have you heard of the car lemon law? It is a law obligating manufacturers or sellers to repair, replace, or refund the price of motor vehicles that prove to be defective. The Ohio Lemon Law is one of the strongest in the nation which includes compensation for attorney fees, making the manufacturer pay the attorney for the time spent on your Lemon Law claim? The law can cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATV’s, SUV’s, RV’s, jet skis and most types of motor vehicles. If your vehicle turns out to be defective, you are entitled to get your money back, a new replacement or a cash settlement. Burdge Law office represents new and used car buyers who may have purchased a defective car, truck, motorcycle, or RV. They offer free automotive recall information and nationwide lemon law attorney referral.

Still Down.

..and mostly out. Spent most of the day just sleeping, and lying in bed, checking websites but not completely absorbing anything. I did manage to make two layouts though, since Im hosting the Scrap with the SugarBabes Challenge over at SSD today (well, Wednesday, USA time). If you have time to join, please do so, Id like to see your pages - Im going to make a couple more of these soon - scrap something through a timeline, like now and then or before and after.

Here’s my layout:
LO228 From Little Boy to Little Man

Today, Im still going to rest, maybe purge my pictures (while I was doing a LO last night, I was completely lost - I didnt know where my stuff was!), open a bank account, buy shoes and an umbroller for Martha (hopefully) and rest, rest rest. I need to report to work tomorrow already.

Back up!

This situation made me back up my pictures and digital kits in no time - a fellow digiscrapper, Juzahlyn, recently lost all her 2007 purchased stuff when her daughter accidentally broke her external hard drive! Imagine the horror! It is so good she has all her pictures still on her computer.

With all the digiscrap kits and pictures I have on my hard drive, properly burned to DVDs and archived to external hard drives as well, I am still contemplating on getting an online back up storage like IBackup - an Online Storage Back Up Solution. They are actually a leading company for storage solutions for small businesses. Those pictures mean more to me than the most money I can have, so I am willing to invest on some safe storage I can use. I dont want what happened last year (around May) to happen again - our system crashed and the newborn pictures of Martha got lost too. We never recovered anything.

Badly Hit.

. and sick.

I cannot speak as my throat hurts so much, Im guessing it more than tonsillitis (pus can you hear me? yuk!). Im trying very hard to eat, which is so not me, primarily because I do not want to get sick some more. The kids are on the road to recovery, no vomiting episodes last night, thank you very much. Their eyes are still puffy though and morning glory still comes out every 15 minutes (allergic conjunctivitis) - and yes, they both have it, can you imagine?! That is why Im thinking it’s the case of an asthma attack again - Matthew’s come in the form of allergies, not wheezing.

Anyhow, it’s quiet here - no screaming, no yelling, all because I cannot speak :). Im off to bed so recuperate. Even Martha is taking advantage of my silence - she goes very near the electric fan, puts the most absurd things in her mouth and even slaps my face a LOT, knowing I cannot say, “NO!” in a loud voice.

How?s it Going?

Just wanted to keep you guys updated with our 7 Day Money Diet! So far, Ive been listing expenses. Not necessarily budgeting, so that I will know by the end of the week my weak points.

See you next week!

Equipment for the SLR

So when we were at the Mall of Asia yesterday, Edil and I had an hour to ourselves to walk around. Where did we go? We checked out the geeky stuff at the CarPark area. We browsed through the Motorola phones (we are getting the cheapest version - Motorola L6 - soon - since Edil’s phone is conking out). We checked out lenses, memory cards and a battery for Rebel too. I was drooling over the wide screen HP monitors - too bad they came in a package! We looked for an umbroller for Martha as well, saw one at Enfant and might be coming back for it in a couple of days. She needs that before she goes to Amadeo this week.

Nope, not my shot though. Entirely Edil’s. As well as all the other shots in the album. (Click on the picture to be taken there). Except maybe for Edil’s lone picture which I took after he adjusted settings :).

Having fun taking pictures. It’s just hard for me to take pictures when Im on the lookout to take of the kids. :)

Soon though. Our hard drive now has over 10GB worth of pictures - need to purchase a new EHD soon, maybe 1 320 or 500 GB capacity will do for now.

Sickies.

We have had a whole week of sickies in the house already, it’s not even funny. Edil is sick, the kids are sick - cough, vomit, fever - and I am sick! It is not funny anymore.

Im so tired :(
Saturday night while Edil was doing the laundry and I was about to do some scrapping, Matthew threw up. Martha woke up crying (they were beside each other in bed). It was a mess. So we changed the sheets, Matthew felt refreshed throwing up all the phlegm when Martha then threw up - plenty as well! So we did another bed sheet change.

Needless to say, Edil was doing the laundry until 3AM.

Curtains or Blinds?

So after doing a day of laundry, Edil has made a decision: when we get to move out on our own, we will be using window blinds to replace curtains. Being in charge of laundry, he has concluded doing heavy curtains once a week is not worth the hassle when you can deep clean window blinds once a month. Daddy is now on the lookout for an apartment in Amadeo, by March next year, we will be definitely be moving.

Paintballers!

Are you looking Quality Ghillie Suits? Do you even know what it is?

A ghillie, or yowie suit is a type of camouflage clothing designed to resemble heavy underbrush. Making a ghillie suit from scratch is time consuming, and a detailed, high-quality suit can take hundreds of hours to manufacture and season for use. These are often used by the US Army or by hobbyists involved in paintball!

My husband is involved with this hobby and he is on the lookout for the best ghillie suit with affordable prices. It’s good we found one online.
