My Tuting.

Let me be a Stage Mother for a moment :P
You are looking at the Number 1 boy in Kinder Class! Yep, we just received the awesome news that Matthew is the top student in class and he will be graduating as Valedictorian (if ever there was a graduation in Kinder, really :P) this March! He was just Number 2 last year, but because of his (I quote his teacher) “attitude in schoolwork, fast grasp of concepts, and reading skills”, he is the rightful top student! WOOHOO! Mommy can never be soo proud. Edil was mocking me that it is because he was the one who primarily taught Matthew this year (well, he’s mostly at home), but I really don’t care. Whatever he says, it’s MY genes, baby! HAHAHA. I think I read once that the intelligence of children have around 75% Mommy Genes, so there :P And you know what the Brat wants for a prize? Justice League - for Halloween, as a costume, weirdo, HAHAHA! (Doesnt he know he can get away with something bigger?!?!) So Lola and Lolo are planning to take him to a zoo in Tags and us parents, we still have yet to see. My sister, Abbie, promised to take care of his swimming lessons this summer, so Im holding onto that. I want him to take art classes as well, maybe Kumon, anything to keep him busy. This is going to be the summer where he wont be the center of anyone’s attention anymore, so I want to ease up things with him, and keep him busy (and off my hands).

Honestly though, I never regarded my son as intelligent, as he always would still need a little help on his assignments whereas with me as a child, my Mom was saying I didnt need help at all, I was reading by the age of three and knew all of the homework I needed to do (yep, I was a nerd). My Mom never had to tutor me once, as in. But, as Ive told her, education nowadays is different 20 years ago. Matthew has double digit addition skills in Kinder, and has projects that involve CUTTING paper. Would you let a 5 year old kid cut his paper and make his own project? But boy, my son is soooo smart, and Im not saying that because Im his Mom. He is very curious and inquisitive to the point of being annoying and my goodness, he makes a fool out of you when you cant answer him properly! (Hindi mo alam? Hindi mo alam?!? Di ba grown up ka na? Bakit hindi mo alam?!?!) You cant just answer him with half truths and imaginative lies as he remembers it to the DOT. One time, Edil told him a lie to answer his Q to shut him up and he was rewarded with a nice comeback a day after when he scolded Matthew only to find out Matthew did something because Edil told him that half truth.

I have a goodlooking, handsome (yep, he is not cute, he is handsome, handsome that will turn absolutely drop jaw gorgeous when he is older, I tell ya :P) son. May my daughter live up to the pressure :) Right now, everyone is guessing what the baby will look like, and honestly, I feel sorry for Baby G. Kinda like me when I was a baby! Kuya was a handsome kid, honestly, Matthew looks like him (even if people still claim he looks like his Dad, I have proof he doesn’t, maybe at least by 60%!). Anyhow, when I came out, I looked like a troll! Really! With matching straight hair pointing upward. My pediatrician dubbed my look the “Scary Look”. Dont believe me? Ill post pics soon. But for now, this post is for my eldest son :)

    ahihi :)
actually sis, i think most kids talaga start out intelligent and everything… lalo na firstborns (ehem) kasi every stimulation he/she gets come from adults… but the challenge is maintaining that level of stimulation and attention and support…

i don’t doubt that matthew will go places talaga, with his looks and personality :)
and yes, many parents have said na wala na atang tatamis pa sa pag-akyat-akyat sa stage to pin ribbons and put on medals on your child :)
(well syempre maraming mas matamis pa dun, pero kasama sya sa da best!)
