Picture 014 My TUTING
Matthew is into reading now and since teaching reading is more on phonetics already, it's easier for kids. Sometimes, though, pronunciation and the alphabet can be a bit confusing, especially if kids were taught proper English with a twang c”,)

*Matthew playing with Bea, his 4 year-old Tita (Bea's my cousin)
Bea: A is for Arabella
Matthew: A for Aktopus! *insert nye nye nye soundtrack from Ang TV here*

*Matthew reading my Mom's shirt come bed time. Lola's shirt is GAP.
Matthew: Ga-A-P-p-p-p. G-A-P. GAP! Lola GAP!
Lola: Very good. What letter is this? G, A, P!
Matthew: G! G as in Giego! *insert nye nye nye soundtrack from Ang TV here*
Lola: (Lola laughs) No babe, G as in?
Matthew: Alam ko na! Ggggg (make short G sound), G as in Gago! *tumama nga, bad word naman!*

The good thing is, my son has humor already. He laughs at his own silliness and can easily get punch lines and story lines in cartoons and telenovelas. His laugh, came from me, husky c”,) Not too much guffawing though.

My TOOTIE-WOOTIE
The day I found out I was pregnant, I was still moony-ing.
Matthew came back from school (and since Edil fetched him, I knew he would tell Mato about it…and we just decided to keep things from everybody because I know all of them would have mixed reactions).

Matthew: Mommy, may sasabihin ka ba sa akin?
Mommy: Wala. Bakit?
Matthew: Meron eh.
Mommy: Ano un? *already guessing Edil had been chismoso*
Matthew: *holds my tummy* May baby brother na ba ako? *grins* Yehey! May baby brother na ako!
Mommy: Ting, secret muna ha.

My mom enters our room and whaddayaknow?
Matthew: “Lola, may baby brother na ako. Pero secret lang ha.”

Matthew playing with Bea 30 minutes after:
“Ako may baby brother na.”

Matthew in my Tita's house (we are in a complex, houses beside each other, one main gate)
Matthew: “Nasa hospital Mommy ko eh, titingnan kung may baby brother na ako.”

So much for keeping it a secret :P Within the day, all of my relatives knew, even people who will call the house, Matthew will say “Sino po ito?” and then follow up with, “Magkakababy brother na po ako.”

And I would die of embarrassment.
Matthew: Lola, OK lang ba na magkababy brother na ako? (in the other room)
Lola: OO naman (buking ko na si Aggie)
Matthew: *shouting and running to our room* Mommy, OK naman si Lola magkababy brother na ako eh!
Aggie: SSSSSSHHHHHH!
Matthew: *running towards Lola's room again* Lola, sabi ng Mommy SSSSSSSHHHHH muna ha?

Juskodai!

Picture 012 My BUBU BEAR
My Mom started terms of endearment with us when we were kids, Kuya was Wewek, I was PiggyGie, Abbie was something (I forgot), Agnes was Tati.

I call Matthew Bubu Bear during lambingan moments.
Matthew: I love you, Mommy.
Aggie: I love you, Matthew.
Matthew: I love you, Mommy Bear.
Aggie: I love you Matthew!
Matthew: HINDI! Dapat Bubu Bear! Ulit mo.
Aggie: I love Bubu Bear.
Matthew: AKO MUNA!!! I love you Mommy Bear, tapos sagot mo na? OK??? Haaaaaay, si Mommy.

When did our lambingan turn into scripts??!! c”,) Matthew is one sweet kid though, he says I love you spontaneously around 20 times a day to me (no joke) and demands a kiss and a hug every now and then. He also knows how to say sorry, albeit grudgingly, hehehe. At least, may naturo akong tama sa anak ko.

My MANGO SHAKE
When we go to the mall, Matthew can be controlled by buying mango shake. He christened himself Mango Shake.

One night, during our harutan moments.
Matthew: Ako si Mango Shake, ikaw Mommy, si Halo Halo, si Daddy….si Daddy, HOT SAUCE!
Mommy and Daddy laughs, Hot Sauce suited Edil perfectly (insert malice here, hahaha)
Mommy: Pag ikaw galit at bugnutin, ikaw si Hot Sauce Jr.
Edil then throws me a pillow.

Now, Im confused. I have to call my son a specific name each time for a specific occassion. One thing's for sure though, he doesn't like Hot Sauce Jr :P
